4. The problem as I see it.

Both men have publicly stated that they are more interested in influencing policy than being President. I think the only way either or both run is if they feel that is the only way to do it. At this time Clark seems closest to running. I think Gore's issues are more universal among the candidates whereas Clark's foreign policy views are not really being advanced at this time.

5. This may sound completely corny but it may come down to this...

it may become a matter of duty. an undeniable duty to ones country for him to run and lead this country out of the dark pit it's in.

I understand that he's made a horrific amount of personal money, so there's no need to jump in now to get on the money train. He'll let the others beat the crap out of each other while he keeps gettin' karma points with the Global Warming schtick. Then he'll jump in later, looking brilliant.

7. get your Gore on....

Al Gore, private citizen with, certainly, a certain clout, began an initiative on Thursday, September 1st. He personally and privately rented and American Airlines jet and crew, got a doctor friend of his and several nurses, and on Saturday morning, he flew to Louis Armstrong airport in New Orleans, gathered up 140 elderly and ill people from the triage center there and flew them to the Knoxville, Tennessee airport. They were met by relief workers who unloaded the plane and took the people to area hospitals which were on alert and ready to welcome the people. After being checked out, those who were able were taken to a Red Cross shelter set up at a local church. Mr. Gore and his doctor had intended to make a second trip on Saturday, but the undertaking - the loading on and the loading off took several hours each, and by the time he could go back to N.O., it was getting dark and, of course, there are no landing lights at the airport in N.O. Sunday, they flew to Dallas and collected another planeload of evacuees and brought them to Chattanooga. That's as far as my information goes. I only know this because the local paper was at the Knoxville airport and got pictures of the people and Mr. Gore moving among them, helping them off the plane. His doctor spoke briefly to the local press, saying,"Al called and asked for help. So here I am."

This is the man we elected president.

To date, Gore himself has not spoken publicly of these actions.

11. Gore/Clark, but only because Gore is taller.

Gore is the only other potential candidate that I feel is equally qualified(or at least in the same ball park) as Clark. But, he is taller and it would look odd if he were the VP candidate next to Clark as the P candidate.
I'm a Clarky and expect Clark to enter the race, so I'll definitely campaign for him. But, if he can't win, I hope it's because Gore is in and wins it. And then, of course, I'd wish he'd ask Clark to be VP.
