in their trumpeted 'presentation of evidence today . . . MSNBC

He says its an attempt by the WH to displace blame for the killings in Iraq onto Iran.

Looks like the propaganda blitz will have more than a few detractors if they can't even convince a writer from Newsspeak.

U.S.-led forces show evidence of Iran weapons in Iraq

Sunday, February 11, 2007; 8:58 AM

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq on Sunday presented what officials said was "a growing body" of evidence of Iranian weapons being used to kill coalition soldiers.

A senior defense official from the U.S.-led Multi-National Force in Baghdad, told a briefing that 170 coalition forces had been killed by roadside bombs known as explosively formed penetrators (EFPs) that he said were manufactured in Iran and smuggled into Iraq.

1. Well, ok, just because something is made in Iran doesn't mean the Iranian government...
shipped it in. There is such a thing as the black market.

3. I've just sent in two questions:
"Does Iran have biological or chemical weapons?

If Iran has those weapons, and has not used them yet on American cities, would that not imply the idea Iran is a dangerous fundamentalist country willing to do anything to kill Americans, is a wrong idea?

Surely, if Iran is willing to use nukes, which would bring their immediate nuclear annihilation from the US or Israel, they would be willing to use biological, chemical, or even conventional weapons on Americans on American soil."

"Is it possible that weapons found to have Iranian serial numbers were purchased on the black market, and do not represent assistance by the Iranian government to the Iraqi insurgency?

Does the US government have any evidence proving the motive of Iran in this matter?

It would seem to me that giving the US a reason to provoke violence is the last thing Iran would want to do in this time of tension."

Has the military provided information on sources other than Iraq associated with other weapons and munitions recovered in coalition raids, most notably, the cache which Centcom reported finding today?
