Concering internet privacy at work -- where are YOU posting from?
There's an interesting thread going right now about an employer installing a sort of "spying" program on work computers to track employees' activities during the day.

This promts the question -- where are YOU posting from today?

and it looks like the boss will stop the internet from being used at all in the office as a cost savings measure, so this will be the only place I post from.

3. Home
I honestly don't have time to do anything but work while I'm at work. The sad truth is I end up doing large amounts of work at home, as well (unpaid, of course).

5. I'm surprised that it has been this long.
Server management software has included software for exactly this purpose since the late nineties. Large technical employers have had their eye on where you went and what you did there since then, I can tell you with certainty.

7. I posted a few comments in that thread - I'm at home
I only surf from home, my company is very strict about Internet usage, I've seen well regarded employees get fired for first offense, and not for obviously inappropriate (like porn) but just for over usage. I live close to work, a couple miles, no traffic, and come home for lunch and surf then during the workweek.

11. Home, always.
Yeah, I lurk from work exclusively. That means being a spectator in the DU breaking news of the day but I don't want my political views known to the bossman....

14. Home only. At work, all computer usage is monitored, and people
can easily get fired for inappropriate usage. This usually means just the pussy hounds get fired, tho -- they can't seem to stay away from their XXX sites for any length of time.

No one has seemed to mind that I look at CNN news occasionally, or that I look at the "cat of the day" website, as long as I don't spend hours doing such things. Like most ppl, I am usually way too busy to do any more than a few minutes of personal surfing at work.

Plus several of my supervisors spend an inordinate amt of time buying things on line, and they know I know. That's a kind of insurance, don't you think?

19. Home...
I don't see the interest in the other thread. Why shouldn't the owners of the computers be able to monitor the usage of their own property?
