Eric Segal (?) was killed this week in Iraq, as reported by John Roberts on CNN's "This Week at War." Eric's sister is in Iraq too and having a difficult time coping with her brother's death. She's been given a few weeks of leave. Then John Roberts ends with "He was just 18."

Damn them!!! The * dictatorship and the mighty Wurlitzer and the bunch of self-serving creeps on both sides of the aisle in Congress that pass themselves off as leaders because they can talk purty.

Edited to add that I'm not real certain about the name because I didn't hear it plainly and it sounded like "Eric Segal". I did hear the part about his sister and the comment about his age clearly, though. That baby hadn't even started life.

Layton family mourns after 18-year-old son dies in Iraq | Print |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JENNIFER DOBNER - The Associated Press
SALT LAKE CITY -- A Layton man died from injuries suffered after his Bradley armored vehicle rolled into a ravine in Iraq, his family said Monday.

Eric R. Sieger, 18, died Thursday, according to Army officers who came to the family home Friday, mother Krista Sieger said.

The military confirmed the death in a news release Monday and said the rollover at Buritz was under investigation.

Officers said the rollover was an accident, Krista Sieger said. Several others were in the vehicle, but they did not suffer life-threatening injuries, she said.

Sieger said she was told her son, who was the driver, was alive when extricated from the vehicle and died later at a hospital....

3. Notice how they refer to them as "men"? Instead of teenagers?

8. That's standard in any news article, not just those about war.
Anyone not a minor is referred to with the adult term - man or woman.

9. He's younger than my daughter.
I can't even wrap my head around what the parents of such young lost soldiers are feeling. It makes me sick that anyone has to go through this.

4. Wife & I always note the ages of those Iraq deaths
shown at the end of ABC's This Week. Today of them were 18.

How long will we remember their deaths on the news?

Oh well, at least Anna Nicole's death is still front and center. :sarcasm:

6. The correct spelling of Eric last name is Siegel. May he rest in peace.

7. On Jim Lehrer's NewsHour on PBS
they end the show with silent footage of the faces, names & ages of our troops who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is incredibly moving --- I had to turn it off the first time I saw it. All those young lives snuffed out --- the ages are 18, 23, 19, 21, 20, etc etc etc. Bush and his entire regime should burn in eternal hellfire.

12. So young...
 I can't imagine having your life ended at 18. At 18, I felt like my life was just beginning! I'm only 21 now and I already have seen reports of so many soldiers younger than me being killed or seriously injured. :( And I don't care if they "signed up for it" - I doubt very much that many of them signed up to be lied to and used as GWB's playthings in a war that never should have happened. When will the madness stop?
