1. I would gladly donate to DU if I had the means.

Unfortunately I have been on Social Security the last few years.

I have been a member a few years now. I kinda fell for the need to support my southern neighbors any way I could. (Signing petition, passing the word around, educating my friends about what's happening to your civil rights, etc.

So, I someone can afford to donate in my name, I would be really honored.

7. I lost my job almost a month ago; can't donate this time around.

8. If the valentine fund raiser has a drawback

it's the fact that it may cause some to feel guilty. Please...there is no need for this. You are under NO obligation to donate if you can't afford to, and I like to think that no one on a liberal board would judge you for it. Most of us have been there.:)
