"The intelligence has gone cold on Osama bin Laden."
TIME: February 11, 2007
This strikes me as newsworthy.
Posted by Karen Tumulty

On CNN's Late Edition today, Lt. Gen. Karl Eikenberry, the former commander of U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, told Wolf Blitzer:

The intelligence has gone cold on Osama bin Laden.

1. I would submit that no "intelligence" has existed in this administration
in regard to OBL.

2. New intelligence:
Kennebunkport. Big house on the coast. Lots of guys in dark suits with earpieces and sunglasses hanging around the driveway. Look in the basement.

5. There has never been a response of even remote intelligence in regards or in response to
our fave national boogieman.

I went to a service area today enroute home this morning. The TV's were tuned to CNN. I heard them say in the distance more times than I could count as I got self serve coffee "al Quaida in Iraq." "al Quaida in Iraq." "al Quaida in Iraq." The programing continues.

He is probably long since dead. IMHO.

9. I think it's awfully convenient for this administration to have
"lost track of OBL" so that when/if there is ever another attack, they can rant about how that sneaky, evil Osama, who slipped from our grasp, has struck again. Then they can ratchet up the "war on terra" some more and attack more countries that have nothing to do with anything. Their agenda depends on him being on the loose. :puke:

11. Bushco said this last year and disbanded the CIA investigating OBL's whereabouts...
this is old news, Bush recanted the story because the press was saying;
"say what"?!!

13. "Cold" as in cold cash. Osama did his part, he's in the Saudi witness protection program
for the rest of his life.

I'm sure his interests in the Carlyle Group and weapons manufacturers are yielding excellent profits for him, his business partners, and his patrons.

16. bin Laden - CIA asset
http://www.greenleft.org.au/2001/465/25199

How the CIA created Osama bin Laden

19 September 2001

BY NORM DIXON

<snip>
“Throughout the world ... its agents, client states and satellites are on the defensive — on the moral defensive, the intellectual defensive, and the political and economic defensive. Freedom movements arise and assert themselves. They're doing so on almost every continent populated by man — in the hills of Afghanistan, in Angola, in Kampuchea, in Central America ... freedom fighters.”

Is this a call to jihad (holy war) taken from one of Islamic fundamentalist Osama bin Laden's notorious fatwas? Or perhaps a communique issued by the repressive Taliban regime in Kabul?

In fact, this glowing praise of the murderous exploits of today's supporters of arch-terrorist bin Laden and his Taliban collaborators, and their holy war against the “evil empire”, was issued by US President Ronald Reagan on March 8, 1985. The “evil empire” was the Soviet Union, as well as Third World movements fighting US-backed colonialism, apartheid and dictatorship.

How things change. In the aftermath of a series of terrorist atrocities — the most despicable being the mass murder of more than 6000 working people in New York and Washington on September 11 — bin Laden the “freedom fighter” is now lambasted by US leaders and the Western mass media as a “terrorist mastermind” and an “evil-doer”.

Yet the US government refuses to admit its central role in creating the vicious movement that spawned bin Laden, the Taliban and Islamic fundamentalist terrorists that plague Algeria and Egypt — and perhaps the disaster that befell New York. . . .
