My Dear Senators,
Yesterday you showed us that you believe it is the Senate's duty to officially condemn the voices of millions of Americans. Yes, you taught us it is the government's job to designate for us what is and what isn't acceptable political speech. Can't let us pesky American's decide for ourselves what we should believe, no you have to make sure that when our thoughts go out of line we have the government come out and condemn us for thinking differently.
Of course you can't issue an official condemnation of a man who stole the oval office, slaughtered hundreds of thousands of civilians, spied on innocent Americans, shredded our Constitution, and lied to the American people. No, you can't issue a condemnation of that man, you can only issue a condemnation of a group that opposes that man. It doesn't matter that the American people have expressed far more anger towards George Bush than they ever have towards MoveOn.org, you tell us that you can't condemn Bush because then you would be turning off middle America. But of course if we don't condemn MoveOn then voters would leave us in droves, because in your wonderful make-believe world everyone wants to protect Bush and have the government go after his enemies.
You want to condemn someone? Condemn Bush. Condemn war. Condemn the shredding of the Constitution. And condemn your corporate donors who rip of their workers and destroy our environment. Or just be honest and condemn yourselves, because you are certainly worthy of condemnation.
The American people are being betrayed every single day, we are being betrayed by the White House, we are being betrayed by the corporations, we are being betrayed by the Pentagon, we are being betrayed by the media, and we are being betrayed by you. Yet when we point out that we feel betrayed, you get outraged and you feel the need to condemn us for saying what we truly believe.
You want to condemn my speech? Well then go right ahead, but don't think your condemnations are going to silence me. You speak out against me, well then I am going to speak out against you a lot louder. I know I will never have the media reach that your exclusive club has, but I do have allies. I have a lot of allies, and I know that many of them will speak out even louder and more eloquently than I am.
If you feel the need to condemn us every time we say something you don't like, well then get prepared to issue a lot of condemnations because we aren't going away.
Sincerely, A Citizen
