I realize this is a scary notion but,...STOP carrying the water for a whole nation.
I think we should take a break, connect with those whom we trust, allow whatever this government decides to do,...to do,...and get our own grassroots network strong enough to carry a vision of equality and rights forward in the aftermath of this disaster.

Just,...a notion,...anyone can explore or expand or abandon.

1. In reality that is what it will take...knowing your neighbors and local
representatives.. ultimately it is those people who move onto congress in Washington... Grass root community actions will save the nation.. it won't come top down. We won't have some saving grace messiah descending from the thrown in Washington to save the masses.

8. Our new reality-based vision of paradise.
To survive that is what we must do. The only way we can emerge is to stop funding the corporations by giving them our money. We must cut back on our consumption & do more for ourselves.

Corporate greed & our reliance on them have given us: poison food-GMO & food additives-from China, toys that kill from China, a polluted environment to the extent that many areas face serious health problems,
automobiles that pollute as much as in the 70's.

I'm getting a some people together to attend and then publish notes and pictures to local groups' websites as a way of stimulating discussion.

3. I agree
just the example of truthouts can't & won't argument is a good example. While the national players are acting as though we are on the verge of grasping the brass ring the real repugs are rebuilding. The national players seem to want the chaos to continue so they can "score big." The truth is W won't be the issue for very much longer and if the message is not something besides FUGWB then we will have a hard time convincing people we are worth following. Do what needs to be done for this election but we need to get busy establishing our base/core stances, so we can maintain our presence.

4. expand: back to basics
make our world smaller and address the problems we can solve ourselves.

this has been a valuable resource for my sanity: a liberal mag that doesn't even talk about problems - only solutions:

6. I agree, partially....
Grassroots, interacting with our neighbors, yes definitely. But I'm not sure what you mean by "STOP carrying the water for a whole nation," or taking a break, or "allow whatever this government decides...." There are other ways of affecting government if one way isn't working. Personally, I hope to run my own business soon and I hope it becomes huge, to the point where I have some political influence. That's just me. But it takes drive, more than just typing away on the computer late at night. Talking to neighbors really doesn't help in that effort either, since neighbors haven't the least bit of interest in what I'm trying to do. So my point is, in my case at least, taking it easy is not the way to go.
