Oh Dammit !!! - The Freepers Caught Us Again !!! (re: MoveOn Donations)

To: DickieFlatts

Allow me to “deconstruct” thier “model” for raising money. Most of the donators are either government-employees, students who are federal-loan recipients, and or entitlement dead-beats. Thus, the percentage of MoveOn.Org donators have salaries/incomes that are directly tied to increases in taxation/goverment spending.

Right now, they donate portions of their incomes (which are really just your and my tax dollars) to MoveOn.Org in order to elect more socialist politicians. You see, you and I would invest in stocks and or mutual funds to create wealth for ourselves via the free market. These kooks veiw their donations to MoveOn.Org as investments. Trust me, the fully expect a return on that investment in the form of bigger tax-and-transfer programs from their favorite politicians.

You are correct. I surf over at DU from time to time. I am always amazed by the number of them that are just one step ahead of having to file bankrucpty or getting kicked out of their double wide for non-payment of rent; yet these loons always have $25 to $50 to send to moveon.org and DU.

That being said; I am saddened by the number of claimed high school teachers that post at the DU web site. These loons are teaching our kids!

"Right now, they donate portions of their incomes (which are really just your and my tax dollars) to MoveOn.Org in order to elect more socialist politicians."

So then, basically....WE TAXPAYERS are funding and donating to MoveOn.Org....indirectly. That's just swell.

Taypayer revolt, anyone?

Don’t forget, in the 2004 cycle, 1/3 of thier cash came from OFFSHORE, NON-US Sources....

For the first time in our HISTORY, thanks to McCain-Feinglod, HUGE somes of foriegn cash are being used to influence our elections, and Democrats are sucking it up...

He had been hurt in a car accident and was living on the govt's dime while promoting everything republican and conservative. He just didn't get it and honestly believed that since he had worked and made contributions to SS, he was now entitled to the benefits he was receiving.

3. Pretty strong words for people living off Daddy's income, eh?
Typing on Mommy's computer in Grandpa's basement, promising they'll start looking for a job the next morning. Except the rich ones--they'll just beg Daddy for an advance on their trust fund, and pretend to themselves they earned it. Freepers and projection... You could write a book. Of course, they couldn't read it.

Yep, yep, yep. Conservatives never have understood working people.

Their level of ignorance is always so astounding to me.

Dear Freepers, actually, I've been able to homeschool my daughter because of money we made in various investments, including our businesses (and their subsequent sales).

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management-Finance, and Hubby-Spouse has an M.B.A. We have two Bachelor's, three Master's, and two doctorates between us. You Freeper-taxpayers did help us with the loans over the years. Thanks! I just donated to MoveOn also!

"Donators?" Thank God my 5th-grader wouldn't write that way!

Edited to add that Hubby and I have probably paid more in taxes over the years than ten Freepers combined!

38. Poor old TCRLAF.
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 11:26 PM by pat_k
Just for grins, I googled TCRLAF. The first hit was http://whitetrashrepublic.blogspot.com/2006/11/why-we-lost-essay-from-tcrlaf.html">WHY WE LOST-An Essay From TCRLAF

Oh well. You can lead a Liberal fascist follower to LOGIC reality, but you can't make it THINK them see.

Whatever the label -- fascists, http://www.powells.com/biblio/18-0670037745-0">authoritarian followers, http://journals.democraticunderground.com/pat_k/4">belief people, or whatever -- they make up about a quarter of the population and probably always will. Tragically, the wimpy, mealy-mouthed, "can't win, won't fight" Dems have managed to alienate a majority of the anti-fascist 75% out here. And they'll continue to lose ground if the so-called "leadership" doesn't learn to ignore the fascists and go for the http://harvardbusinessonline.hbsp.harvard.edu/hbsp/hbr/articles/article.jsp?articleID=99401&ml_action=get-article&print=true">BHAGs (big hairy audacious goals) that would energize the rest of us.

If "ignoring" is too much to ask, perhaps they could limit all the obsessing about what "they" will do to one day a week? If they keep going as they are they'll just keep terrorizing themselves out of doing anything ("Impeach?? Are you kidding? You want "them" to come after us? Oh no! We just have to lay low and everything will be allright.")

Countdown with Keith Olberman, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13816491">July 10, 2006

DEAN: I ran into a massive study that had really been going on for 50 years now, by academics. They‘ve never really shared this with the general public. It‘s a remarkable analysis of the authoritarian personality, both those who are inclined to follow leaders, and those who jump in front and want to be the leaders. . .

OLBERMANN: Does it really—do the studies indicate that it really has anything to do with the political point of view? Is it—would it be easier to essentially superimpose authoritarianism over the right than it would the left? Or is it theoretically possible that they could they have gone in either direction, and it‘s just a question of people who like to follow other people?

DEAN: They found—they have found really—maybe a small, 1 percent of the left, who follow authoritarianism, probably the far left. But as far as widespread testing, it is just overwhelmingly our conservative orientation.

OLBERMANN: There is an extraordinary amount of academic work that you quote in the book. A lot of it is very unsettling. It deals with psychological principles that are frightening and that may have faced other nations at other times, in Germany and Italy in the ‘30s coming to mind in particular. . .

DEAN: The lead researcher in this field told me, he said, I look at the numbers in the United States, and I see about 23 percent of the population who are pure right-wing authoritarian followers. They‘re not going to change. They‘re going to march over the cliff. The best thing to deal with them—and they‘re growing. And they have tremendous influence on Republican politics. The best thing, the best defense is understanding them, to realize what they‘re doing, how they‘re doing it, and how they operate. Then it can be kept in perspective, then they can be seen for what they are. . .

Why they must all be bazillonairs with such defined ability to asses the world around them without any need for facts and research. If that's the case, why worry about a few odd bucks going to the opposition? Or they could just be self-delusional tools who can't even check their spelling.

But just because I work for the government, like any police officer, fireman, teacher, judge, most garbage collectors, etc., that does not mean I do not work for my paycheck and provide a valuable service to the community. Plus, I own my own house and have enough savings to last for a while.

54. one thing that gets me
is that the posters all seem to be so intent and tunnel visioned that the almighty buck is the end-all and be-all - it's like they don't know that liberals are by and large humanitarians with bigger things on their mind than amassing material wealth.

i work for every cent i have. i pay taxes too. if and when i collect unemployment following our move to NC from CA next week, it will only be for as long as it takes to find a job. this move - from the place i was born, raised, and lived in for 52 years - was precipitated by the prohibitive cost of living in los angeles. i donated to MoveOn yesterday, and it was NOT because i have a sense of entitlement and feed off the public trough! that is such, such bullshit. but they actually seem to believe it.

i mean it really seems as if they believe it. huh? who are these people? war mongers, hate mongers, and for what? i doubt if most of them are independently wealthy...and don't they have families, people they care about? eh, i'm rambling. but i find these comments disturbing in that they are so far removed from reality as i experience it, and they are so - cold, is it, and so smug, i guess - so blind. what is their big picture? imperialistic hegemony by any means of the 1% of the richest over every other soul upon this planet? do they find that prospect attractive? have they no sense of fairness, no appreciation of the difference between right and wrong?

it is seriously hard for me to understand their self satisfied holier than thou idiocy. and that they appear to attribute every person's motivation to what apparently is the only motivation that moves them: greed.

they are wrong. not everybody is greedy. some of us - goddammit, a lot of us! - do give a flying fuck about other people and the quality of their lives and the prematurity and injustice of their deaths, some of us mourn what greed has done to a once great nation, some of us are interested in maintaining a planet that will be viable for millenniums to come. their apparent blindness to this baffles the holy fucking shit out of me.

56. Yay! I hope you love NC as much as I do
As for the rest - most people assume that other people think the same way they do and project all their stuff on to other people. Goodness knows I do it too - like I tend to think that their hatred and selfishness is conscious and fully informed and freely chosen and that they know the consequences of their actions and want those consequences. Hence my issues with misanthropy.

They simply can't imagine having higher motives than self-interest. And we can't imagine having no motive other than self-interest. I don't think we'll ever be able to understand each other - best I can think of is to do all we can to keep them from having power and/or using that power to harm others and try and give their kids the love and acceptance that they aren't getting at home so they don't grow up quite so twisted.

I know I can be a nag about this, but prejudice isn't pretty no matter where it comes from or what group is the target. I was born and raised and still live in the South, and after my father died without a will my mother and I lived in a singlewide trailer. Hell, I've even worked at Wal-Mart and at Arby's. I don't believe any of that had any effect on my beliefs or morals or intelligence or my value as a human being. People are not the history of the region they were born in and people are not their socioeconomic level. Humans are living individuals, and by virtue of that they are all of equally infinite value. A human in a trailer in the South feels the same pain as a human in a McMansion in the Northeast and as a human in a house pitted by bullets in Iraq and as a human in a tent in a refugee camp in Africa.

Hatred of the Other may have helped us when we lived in small competing tribes, but it's killing the planet and everything living on it now. It's time for the species to grow the hell up.

58. "entitlement deadbeats"
Let's see, who would they be?

A partial list:

People on disability

People on unemployment

People receiving Social Security benefits

People on Medicare

Military servicemembers

Veterans on disability or receiving any VA benefits

Military retirees

Retired police officers and firefighters, including those who responded to the 9-11 attacks

Government employees, including Republican elected officials. (This one I especially love since Republicans control the Federal government and most State governments. If they hate the Gubmint so much, then why do they glom onto it so?)

Double-dipping military retiree/civilian contractors.

Anyone who is attending, or ever attended, a state college or university

Children on free or reduced-lunch programs (more than half of all children in the U.S.)

Boy, that's a lot of people! What a bunch of deadbeats. :eyes:

I'm sure no Freeper is included among them. Gawd bless their ruggedly individual bootstrap pulling free-market loving hearts! I just wish they'd devote more of their brilliant trickle-down financial acumen to actually pulling our economy out of the crapper than to griping about who we poor losers on DU are donating part of our welfare checks to, ya know?

64. Freeper Econ 101
1. Hard working 'murkans like us get our pay stolen from us by the gubmint.

2. That money goes directly into the hands of moonbats who work for the gubmint (because no freeper works for the gubmint).

3. The moonbats then give all their extra cash to MoveOn or other dingbat causes.

Ergo, your taxes go directly to MoveOn.

It must be nice to live in such a simple world.

66. Most Republicans
are like the pot calling the kettle black, or people in glass houses throwing stones. These people would probably scold their Savior for praising the widow for her mite. She was just a deadbeat in a trailer, if she really loved God she'd go out and get a better job selling real estate, right?

They are living in their little McMansions with the ARM mortgages and their gas guzzling pickup or SUV, a few steps away from bankruptcy themselves. The fact they put down somebody who lives in a trailer just shows how insecure they are, because they must be so close to that kind of poverty themselves, it is scary for them. They are looking down into the abyss and cracking a few black gallows humor jokes, nothing more.

I think you'll find people of all economic stripes on DU, though it doesn't surprise me you'll find more bohemian types; people who are poor but well-read and intelligent.

I actually stole this beer from a hardworking American Republican (oops, being redundant there) but the ACLU got me off on a technicality.

112. The collective IQ in the hive is on a parallel trend with Bush's poll #s
There used to be some intelligent posting there...now, it's just an embarrassment. It is the Republican base in its purest form.

113. They're full of it, as usual
I've worked since age 14, never been a government employee and never received any "entitlements". My donation came from my own hard-earned wages.

114. OMG.... I'm actually a Freeper!
I have a good job, pay taxes, have thousands in investments, and live in a house instead of a double-wide. :sarcasm:

Why do they think they are the only ones who can make sound financial decisions when their party's track record of managing money is so dismal? Freepers have us beat in one characteristic - unabashed human greed.

115. That's an interesting take on the ownership of money.
1. The money Freepers pay in taxes is their money.
2. Government workers are paid with taxes.
3. Therefore, all of the money paid to government workers is still the property of Freepers. (Despite the fact that the government employees have done actual work to earn this money.)

I wonder where the taxes that government workers pay figure in to this line of thought. Did the money paid to them originally belong to them, does it still somehow belong to the Freepers, or does it fall into some kind of a "chicken and the egg" paradox.

Of course, if you follow their "logic" about the permanent ownership of money, then the money that they are paid still belongs to their employers, and they should have to get prior consent from their employers before making and purchases or political donations... or does it still belong to the consumers that bought their products... or does it still belong to the consumers' employers...
