I Finally Heard A Dixie Chicks Song On The Radio Today

Right around lunch time on 98.5-FM in Denver. First Chicks song I've heard since the controversy over the Bush comments.

What a relief, considering the dismal state of country western music these days. If I hear one more Kenny Chesney "I'm Just A Good Ol' Boy Drinkin' On This Tropical Island And Wearin' This Hat 'Cause I'm Goin' Bald" song, or some some ghastly tune from Toby "Yeah, That's My Voice, Not A Goat Bleating" Keith, I think I'll throw up. Welcome back, Dixie Chicks---and screw you, chickenshit programming directors across the country, for keeping these talented ladies off the airwaves for the cardinal sin of being absolutely correct about Dim Son.......

2. There's A Significant Range Of Political Sentiment

College towns like Boulder seem to have an active liberal community. On the other hand, Colorado Springs is the national center for far right wing religious fundamentalism. "Purple" is probably the correct description.

We just moved up here from Texas, so we're still getting used to the place. Having the Dixie Chicks back on the radio is encouraging, though; hope it's happening elsewhere.....

are playing up here in the NW, but so far no one has been insane enough to hold a gun to my head to get me to LISTEN to country radio.

....might monitor your stations and see if the Dixie Chicks are turning up on the play lists. If they aren't, call up the stations and ask why the hell not. The Chicks have been black-balled for way too long, and it's time to break the hold of the knuckle-draggers on what we get to hear on the airwaves.

then I'm in Los Angeles and what I hear them on is the "soft rock" station that I listen to. I can't stand country music so I don't know whether they play them on those here or not.
