We all know the Freeptards are on suicide watch today
because of this:

Dixie Chicks Overcome Boycott, Sweep Top Three Grammy Awards

Coupled with the Democrats taking back congress, I have no idea why they even go on living.

If you haven't already done so, you can still torture the Repukes by purchasing "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice" on iTunes for .99 cents. (if you can't afford the whole CD.)

The Repukes might be able to boycott the record (yea, like that works!! LOL) but there is zero they can do to prevent you from supporting the Dixie Chicks financially.

Z-E-R-O!

I look forward to their next award winning, GOP-mocking song.

Payback is such a b-word, isn't it? :)

1. Not to put a damper on the celebration...
Since it's great that they won and all.

But do you really think that the Freepers care if one group of self congratulatory liberal hollywood/industry types give another group of liberals an award? I mean it's not like these losers just have something against individual artists, they loathe the entire industries that these artists work in.

I'm sure they're happy they have more ammunition agains these industries.

of their (Dixie Chicks) music...more people will no doubt be going to their concerts due to the increased publicity... and some radio stations, which have been boycotting their music may find it impossible to ignore this group any longer.

Or at the very least ignore playing the award-winning songs.

So IMO, that alone is worth celebrating.

21. I'm with you. While I'm glad they won this wasn't vindication for the DC's
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 09:15 AM by Mike Daniels
Vindication will be when the Clear Channels and other radio companies that did a blanket-ban on the Chicks remove the ban and the listeners decide that they want to hear the Chicks back on the air.

This was simply an industry group that is pretty much dismissed by conservatives anyway bestowing some awards upon them. With the exception of the country market most of the industry stood behind the Chicks during the whole ordeal.

While it will result in an uptick of sales, as is the case for most record of the year recipients, it's not necessarily going to bring them back in the good graces of those who banished them to begin with.

There are other country artists (Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) who have been critical of Bush who haven't experienced a degree of the fall-out that the Chicks have gone through. Ultimately, the Chicks basically kissed off the country audience and I don't see that particular group rushing back simply because of a few awards.

It will mean being unfairly boycotted for expressing an opinion then winning money and awards for putting that opinion into music.

13. The Dixie Chicks picked up FIVE awards on Sunday!

The Dixie Chicks picked up five awards on Sunday, including album of the year,
record of the year and song of the year, best country album and “Not Ready to Make Nice”
also captured best country performance!

Defiant Dixie Chicks Are Big Winners at the Grammys

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/12/arts/music/12gram.html?8dpc

Published: February 12, 2007

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11 —

After death threats, boycotts and a cold shoulder from the country music establishment,
the Dixie Chicks gained sweet vindication Sunday night at the 49th annual Grammy Awards,
capturing honors in all five of the categories in which they were nominated.

They were the top winners during a night when the Recording Academy spread the wealth,
even handing out ties in two categories, as it bestowed four awards on the Red Hot Chili
Peppers and three on Mary J. Blige. Carrie Underwood, Justin Timberlake, Tony Bennett,
John Mayer, Ludacris and the late jazz musician Michael Brecker were among those who
also received multiple awards.

The Dixie Chicks took home Grammys for the top three awards: record, song and album of
the year. Their “Taking the Long Way” (Open Wide/Columbia) won best country album
and “Not Ready to Make Nice” also captured best country performance by a duo or group
with vocal.
That song is an unapologetic response to the furor set off in 2003 when
the band’s lead singer, Natalie Maines, made an off-the-cuff antiwar remark to London
concertgoers:
“Just so you know, we’re ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.”

But Sunday’s awards were the Recording Academy’s rejoinder to the country music radio
establishment, which ignored the album. Accepting the award for song of the year, Ms.
Maines joked, “For the first time in my life, I’m speechless.” But she found her voice
on later trips to the stage. “I’m very humbled and I think people were using their voice
the same way this loudmouth did,” she said, self-referentially, after “Taking the Long Way”
was named album of the year.
The Dixie Chicks’ sweep of the major Grammy categories served as a sharp counterpoint
to their shut-out at the Country Music Association awards in November.

29. Okay, I am a little off subject here but did anyone notice
that Reba in introducing Carrie Underwood said, with acid dripping off her tongue, a NICE young lady who RESPECTS the past? Then when Carrie accepted the award for new artist she, in true southern charm, did an under the cover dig at both the Chicks and Kelly Clarkson. It was very subtle but it was there. My daughter even agreed with me that there was a message hidden in Underwood's words, and she rarely agrees with me about anything. The girl can sing good but I am not too fond of her.

35. The one for Kelly Clarkson was in her
thanks to Simon Fuller and how blah blah blah blah she owed it all to American Idol, etc. Clarkson has broke from that group and made her own music.

The first thing she said was something about "Well, I still like country music." (emphasize the I) and I believe something about being proud of being part of it. It was all in her tone and knowing the southern/mid-west way of saying what you want to with honey dripping off your lips. Well, I say mid-west but here in SI most of us are only 2 to 4 generations away from the Ozarks/ Appalachians.

I could be wrong, but I really don't think I am. Like I said earlier. my daughter heard it in her tone also, and she is not a conspiracy person like I am. Carrie is probably under Reba's right wing now.

There are some dems in country music and they did not stand up for the Chicks any time in the last four years. So it would be a big surprise if a new comer like Underwood had the nerve to do so. She knows where her bread is buttered. Also, the thing about American Idol could have been toward Jennifer Hudson as well as Clarkson, because Hudson was on the Grammys last night and Clarkson was not.

Oh, Toby Keith now says he is a dem I believe.

The odd thing about the Obama furvor is that Obama's father's moslem ancestors were the same people in Kenya that were the slavers that sold non-moslems. 99+% of American slaves were not moslems. Which means that not only does Obama have absolutely nothing to do with black decendants of slaves in America his father's ancestors and religion was the reason slaves were sold in Africa.
Odd, eh? islam is the reason that African slaves were for sale because the islamo-Arabs sold them. With the help of people like Obama's dad's dad's, etc. What's even more bizarre is when the living decendants of slaves in America decide to follow islam or would vote for a guy who's from a moslem family like Obama is.

That's why everyone else has to be punished for their ancestor's evil doings, "but us white folk is suppose to be in control because we is clean and without fault for what them other folks have done. Gawd bless us true Amerikans because we is who the forefathers made this country for. We earned our place, but they all want stuff given to them."

Wouldn't that be off by 2 or generations? So, obviously this freeper made this up.

Obama's dad's dad could, (small chance since he'd have to be in his 90's) still be alive. Even so, it would mean he would have been born in the 20th century, about 50+ years after the slave trade was halted. So, he couldn't have been involved.

Oops! Another one bites the dust.
