Obama Casts Peevish Eye on National Media
It seems that Barak Obama is understanding the MSM very well and is ready to call them out on their lack. In his press conference in Ames this week-end, he attacks them on the fact they only report things that are non important and nothing substantive.

I wonder how it will play with the media themselves, but it is certainly good to see that he is out there not taking it.

Obama Casts Peevish Eye on National Media

By: Ben Smith
February 12, 2007 07:26 AM EST

Barack Obama used his first news conference after announcing his run for president to accuse the media of ignoring his substantive record and falsely depicting him as a lightweight.

"The problem's not that the info's not out there," he said of his record on policy issues. "The problem is that that's not what you guys have been reporting on. You've been reporting on how I look in a swimsuit."

...

"One of the narratives that's established itself among the mainstream media this notion, 'Well you know, Obama has a pretty good style, he can deliver a pretty good speech, but he seems to prioritize rhetoric over substance,'" Obama said. "Well, factually, that's incorrect."

...

Still, Obama's pointed riff was unexpected by many in the press. Newsweek's senior White House correspondent, Richard Wolffe, said he took it as both personal and strategic.
...

"I have the most specific plan in terms of how to get out of Iraq of any candidate," he said in Ames. "I have delivered major speeches over the course of the two years before I started running for president on every major issue out here, whether it's education, health care or energy."
...

Of course, the media will see that as a personnal attack, but it is good to see he understands how the game is played.

1. Wow, freezing out FOX, smacking Howard, opening criticizing the media.
As Darth Vader would say, "Impressive. Most impressive."

3. "Of course, the media will see that as a personnal attack"
And we all know that the media hates personal attacks, especially when it involves a popular, progressive Democrat. :eyes:

4. The headline says Obama casts PEEVISH eye on media
Interesting choice of words. So John McCain is a straigt shooter, but Obama is peevish according to the media.

I don't think we've ever had a more honest person running for President than Obama.

7. Or the Salonish "U" word
Yup-- MSM is pathetic.

Wolfe is just another hack--tries to keep a poker face on KO, but can't always contain his bile at having to defend his masters (BFEE)

8. Wes Clark in 2004
But, he was ignored by the media for daring to call them out.

And, Dean - he was maligned by the media... for daring to call them out.

It's happened before. It'll happen again.

6. Obama's going to find himself given the Dean treatment if he
continues in this vein.

9. I am liking Obama more and more
Still, it's very early. I'm still hoping Clark and Gore enter the race, and it's certainly too early to choose a favorite, but I am more hopeful with Obama than with any of the others who have announced.
