"I'm a veteran and we need to get behind our President..."
If I hear one more caller on C-SPAN say this bullshit, my head is going to explode. No, goddamn it! We don't need to get behind a moron that lied us into a war that cannot be won. What we need is to get him and his "co-President", Mr Cheney, out of office as soon as possible, before they kill all of us. And it makes not a damn bit of difference to me if he's a Republican or a Democrat, when someone so out of touch with reality is willing to take our country over the cliff, it's time to get off the fucking bandwagon. Just how much of this "terrorists are coming to get us" do you believe?

Open your eyes, you stupid motherfuckers! You are destroying our country. Not just Mr Bush and Mr Cheney, but every goddamn ignorant ass that calls into shows like C-SPAN that still support these lies that are destroying our country. You are responsible. Use your head for something besides a friggin' hatrack! And stop calling into C-SPAN with such bullshit!

<end of rant>

What kills me is that 70% of Americans are supposed to be against the war and they still have every other call coming from a pro war imbecile. Go figure! peace, Kim

10. It's easy for someone to say "I'm a veteran", too.
Do I think that some member of the 101st Chairborne would claim to be a veteran to make a point on-air? You bet your ass.

21. I'm With You Bluebear
I think about half of them are lying about being in the service. The ones who say they just got back from Iraq, really are the liars. I figure the probability of that many "just got back" vets calling into a show like this is about one in a billion. So, either it's a remarkable coincidence, or someone's lying.

22. and those that say, "I'm a combat veteran..."
I was in Vietnam but I was not out in the bush. Like the majority over there, I was in support and transportation, which was vital but it was not considered combat. However, it seems that every Vietnam veteran that calls in is a "combat veteran". It's just not possible...

Caught a Republican candidate using that on his website. Turns out he never left the United States, but served in 1966-1969.

39. Yeah, The Very First Thing Returning Vets from Iraq Do Is Watch C-Span
Not watch hundreds of DVDs, nor play video games, watch porn, have sex with their S.O., hang out with their kids, etc.

No, the very first thing they do is watch C-Span.

13. How can we expect anything different...
when the media doesn't investigate and inform the public of real facts? Not everyone has the time to search for the truth.

I think we need to start our own hard copy newspapers and begin handing them out in our communities. If a relatively small group of friends made a few copies each, with a note on the masthead asking that everyone reading the paper make a few copies and hand them out, a decent number of people could be reached. It could work.

27. But that would involve...TOUCHING him!
You'd have to bathe in DS2 for a MONTH to get that much slime off your hands. (DS2 is a decontaminating agent for military vehicles that have been in a gas attack. It works by stripping the paint off the truck.)

This veteran says we find the battalion that's lost the most troops in this illegal war, allow them to draw weapons, and have them march Bush onto one of those cattle cars they had at Fort Dix.

31. Cattle cars were how we got there
Fort Dix was the Army's northernmost basic training post, and because of its location (very close to the Atlantic Ocean, and in America's flattest state) there was a post regulation that set minimum temperatures for marching troops to the various training ranges. The Army doesn't stop training just because it's too damn cold to get there, so they did the next best thing: bought a fleet of the kind of trailers used to take cattle to market, had benches and handholds put in them--the benches I never understood; those trucks held about a hundred standing soldiers, so they always sent one truck per 100 troops--and had the students in the 64C Motor Transport Operator's course drive the trainees to the ranges.

Cattle cars isn't a euphemism--they really hauled us around in cattle cars.

... wonder what their justification is in their blind acceptance and total worship of all the chickenhawks in this admin?
I don't watch C-SPAN call-in shows for this exact reason; same reason I don't watch * "speeches". Just taking care of the ticker.

35. I suspect maybe the only thing he was a Vet of
was maybe a game of Grand Theft Auto. I've maybe heard 1 in a thousand soldiers ever say anthing like this. Troops don't talk like that. In my experience most could even give a shit who the President is. There world is their brothers, the mission, their and immediate command. In that order.

I was watching one of my childhood favorites, Schoolhouse Rock the other night. "America is going to elect a President," they said, "and he's going to do what the people want!"

How did this thing get turned around backwards in so many people's heads?
