Sensenbrenner calls Iraq resolution ‘poisonous’

<snip>

Calling the Democrat-driven resolution "poisonous," Sensenbrenner said he would vote against a nonbinding resolution.

"If you want to stop the war, stop the money," said Sensenbrenner. "The Democrat resolution has no force or effect. The trump card we have (in Congress) is the power of the purse. They have to have the guts to say we are not going to fund it."

...

In response to ongoing questions about weapons of mass destruction and Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship from Hudson, Sensenbrenner pointed to 17 United Nations sanctions ignored by the Hussein government.

"As I see it, the UN did not have the political will to enforce its resolutions," said Sensenbrenner, adding that in the 1930s, the League of Nation’s failure to en-force its resolutions led to the rise in power of Hitler and Mussolini.

"History does repeat itself," said Sensenbrenner.

The UN’s failure to enforce resolutions is also happening in Iran and North Korea, Sensenbrenner said.

"Saddam was a two-bit dictator, but he was not Hitler," said Dennis Uhlig of Cedarburg.

"The world is a better place without Saddam Hussein," replied Sensenbrenner.

9. I'll second that. The only poisonous people are these monsters

4. "Poisonous" is reminiscent of "treasonous" IMO.
Sensenbrenner is using his freedom of speech for posturing and pandering, that is, it is of no merit.

5. Weren't there some Republicans supporting that thing?
Why does the M$M persist in trying to divide us, especially on an issue we're more united than divided on?

Should this be a multiple choice question?

6. Is it me ...
or are the repugs making a big deal out of "a nonbinding resolution that has no force or effect", to use their own words?

They're sure making a fuss.
