Deal struck at N. Korean nuclear talks: S. Korean official
BEIJING - Chief envoys to six-nation talks aimed at ending North Korea's nuclear weapons programme clinched a deal at the end of marathon negotiations, a South Korean official said.

"I'm encouraged by this that we were able to take a step forward on the denuclearization issue," Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill said.

"The chief delegates struck a deal over a joint document," the South Korean government official who was involved in the discussions told AFP, although he added it still required the final green light from their respective governments. "It would require the approval from the home governments of the negotiators."

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, gave no specifics of the agreement.
