Resolution Could Affect Morale -- Snow
UPI
White House spokesman Tony Snow urged the U.S. House to carefully consider any resolution regarding Iraq because of the potential impact on troop morale.
Snow told the Monday press briefing House members "need to understand that words do travel and they need to assess what impact they think they may have."
Hmmm... Let's pretend for a moment that the Congress of the United States was actually DOING something about Iraq. Not dilly-dicking around like the Senate, whose solution to the conflagration that is House Iraq is to
argue about whether they
should argue about showing Bush a picture of a garden hose; nor like the House where the Democrats have refused to allow the Republicans to show Bush a picture of a garden hose, because they are going to show him a picture of a disapproving look.
No, for one second imagine that the Congress was going to take decisive action and revoke the 2002 war authorization, and begin immediate withdrawal of US forces from Iraq by allowing appropriated money to be used only for that purpose..
Imagine the effect on morale when you tell our soldiers they are coming home, and they no longer have to worry about people trying top kill them on an hourly basis. Imagine telling them they will get to see their family, eat hot meals, take a shower every day, and not have to pick up parts of their friends in hopes that a surgeon can re-attach them. Imagine clean sheets, a warm bed, a good night's sleep, and no rocket-propelled grenades flying over your head.
Yeah, that could really DEVASTATE their morale.
