To anyone assuming Hillary's lead is a sure thing...
Don't get too comfortable.

In fact, you may want to keep your eyes on the road ahead; you might be surprised! :)

8. more acccurately, many DUers are tired of the hubris of clinton supporters and
their ardent insistence the primary is already over before its happened.

The hubris of the HillHaters is monumental.
Thanks, at least, for not using "shrill hen-like cackle" in your post...

15. I address actual issues, not the "cackle" and I've said so in other threads
there are more valid reasons to be leery of Clinton: her vote and subsequent lame defense of her vote for the Kyl-Lieberman, her health care program (edwards is no better, btw) that guarantees income to private insurers but doesn't assure quality of care.

do you care to discuss either of those two issues?

Oh well that proves you're absolutely correct when you typed:

"more acccurately, many DUers are tired of the hubris of clinton supporters and
their ardent insistence the primary is already over before its happened."

Lordy, DU just cracks me up some days!

27. Yes, and the fact Hillary's candidacy has received a disproportional...
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 11:19 AM by RiverStone
Amount of coverage relative to her Dem competitors.

I see it as the tail of the corporate MSM wagging the dog. Last week Rob Reiner, Hollywood Director endorses Hillary and there is a 3 paragraph write on about it on CNN's Political Ticker. Nothing against Rob, but it seems as if the media seeks anything to "promote" her candidacy. She is the media darling with the big 3.

I do see the MSM either overtly or purposefully trying to marginalize the time and attention of other candidates. When I have tossed out that notion before, Hillary supporters have suggested that my observations are that of a conspiracy theorist - that indeed NO media bias exists.

Of course, perception is everything.

As an aside, I won't call out any DUer specifically (as I think that is against the DU forum rules) but I have observed that HRC supporters both here and elsewhere are touting and repeating the MSM's
assumption that she is already the anointed one.

The only people I see using the term "sure thing" and "inevitable", are non Clinton supporters setting up the straw man.

16. Once a candidate is assumed to be the winner, voters begin to examine them more carefully...
There is a ton of opposition research on HRC that will be used against her.

However, so far she has maintained some cover in 'running ' against the other Democratic Candidates.

She may be in for some rough questioning relating to her positions on issues she has so far been evasive about, and I would expect the character attacks to appear more frequently the close we get to the Democratic Convention.

IMHO her failure to clearly articulate positions on issues that are important to liberal Democrats will begin to eat into her lead in the polls. Whether she will fall back to the pack is another question given she has the most money and resources needed to run a campaign.

28. a horse is a horse...
And do you see any media bias which seems to be promoting a Hillary Presidential candidacy as a foregone conclusion?

My point is this race is far, far from over. Sadly, DK's views are marginalized by the MSM that see's him not as a serious contender; whereas I for one see him as BEST representative of a true Democratic platform. I also think Obama and Edwards are far more competitive then some assume (despite the MSM polls). Iowa may radically rock the boat.

I'm just not going to handicap the race. The MSM has already placed their bet - and it is obvious.

At the very least, I hope Dennis plays an important role setting the platform at the Dem Convention -at the very best, he will surprise people and do better than the MSM is giving him credit for.

That would be like a baseball team having a 7 game lead with 17 left to play, and then not making the playoffs.
