Coalition Kills al Qaeda Leader Who Coordinated Foreign Terrorists in Iraq

(PressMediaWire) - Abu Usama al-Tunisi, a foreigner who brought al Qaeda terrorists into Iraq, was killed Sept. 25 in an air strike on a building south of Baghdad where he was meeting with other al Qaeda operatives, Army Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson, Multinational Corps Iraq's chief of staff, said in a briefing to reporters in the Pentagon.

The meeting was near Musayyib, in Babil province, about 35 miles south of Baghdad. An Air Force F-16 bombed the building. A video provided by defense officials shows a large explosion and the building leveled. Two other al Qaeda members were killed in the blast, and two were detained, Anderson said.

Tunisi was a close associate, and part of the inner circle of advisors to Abu Ayyub al-Masri, the overall leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, Anderson said. Officials believe he may have been tapped to succeed Masri.

...

A handwritten letter found at the site indicated that Tunisi's operations were cut off by coalition forces in the area and that he was trying to get direction from leaders, Anderson said.

"We are so desperate for your help," the letter reads.

"This was a dangerous terrorist who is no longer a part of al Qaeda in Iraq," Anderson said. "His death deals a significant blow to their operation."

1. Let's see: we were attacked on 9/11 because we didn't have enough translators...
...to translate communiques in the days before that foretold of such an attack, but we can pick up a hand-written note that was pulled from the rubble and ashes of an F-16 attack and translate it on the spot?

Yeah, that's credible...:sarcasm:

Maybe terrorists use the same paper in their memo pads that they use in their passports?

Al Qaeda Crippled By U.S. Strategy
National Review Online: Security And Intelligence Progress Is Happening Silently In Iraq

(National Review Online) This column was written by Pete Hegseth.

<snip>

This is not to say they cannot still deliver such attacks, but the new U.S. strategy has crippled them. Don’t just take my word for it; listen to the latest al Qaeda “martyr,” Abu Osama al-Tunisi. In a handwritten note found at the site of his death, the al Qaeda in Iraq No. 2 wrote, “I have been surrounded…for two and a half months because the road has been closed by the Apostate, and there is no other way,” he added, “We are so desperate for your help.” The words of this high-ranking al Qaeda member speak volumes, and underscore the now undeniable counter-narrative happening in Iraq.

4. Amazing all those letters, passports, muslim books and
the like they keep finding after fire and brimstone...

Those muslim terra'ists must have discovered the ultimate burn-proof, water-proof material. Also they're kinda funny: Planning a suicide bombing they ALWAYS take loads of religious books with them.
