Biden, Dodd on Ahmadinejad - "Madman", "Thug"

March 5, 2007

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden today called Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad a "madman" and raised the possibility that he could be assassinated by foes within his country...Biden called Ahmadinejad "that wacko guy, the crazy president,"

...Dodd, also a presidential hopeful, said the United States needs to avoid talking with Ahmadinejad and called him "a thug."...

26. Now that I've gotten to know you better, Z-Man, wouldn't it be more consistent
for us to pray for Ahmadinejad rather than applaud others who call him mean names?

Oops, I forgot, sometimes you call for prayer and sometimes you say it's better just to bomb the bastards.

In this a prayin' thread or a bombin' thread? Which is it?

38. Bombing. Note the absence of MLK, Jr. and Ghandi in the sig line.
Also, no mention of Hillary or any "Democrat of substance" since up until now, he considered neither Biden nor Dodd to be of substance.

3. Wow, seems he has much in common with our president.....
Now if they would just have the guts to call him the same then and only then could they get any credit from me for speaking the truth,..its easy to call someone names like that when you know they cannot come back at ya....

Kind of cowardly to say it about one but ignore the reality that we have the same.

24. Regarding Bush
As reported by the New York Times, Biden said of President Bush, "“This guy is brain dead. I know I’ll be quoted, I’ll be killed for that.”

A little more accurate than "madman" under the circumstances.

Yes, I'm far prefer they didn't say crap like that.

And as a matter of fact, I try and avoid certain language entirely. I avoid using ghe word evil. I try not to characterize anyone as scum or vermin, no matter how much I detest them. I don't think in public affairs it's ever helpful. I don't call people Nazis or good germans. When I write to the editor, I never name call.

by Ahmadinejad. Saying that he might be assassinated by his foes - that is a reference to Ahmadinejad being unpopular in his own country, which is true, per the accounts I've heard on TV. He is viewed in his country like * is viewed here....a troublemaker unpopular with at least half the country.

It probably would've been best not to actually call him by derogatory names. Would've been better to say the same thing in more diplomatic language.

Man, it must be tough having your every utterance repeated in the press and torn apart daily! Why do any of these people want to put themselves through it and run for office?????
