Anita Hill; Thomas harassment charge true
NOTE: If all is found his book is nothing but a hateful rant; this man as was found years ago is certainly not qualified to sit on the supreme court. This certainly is not an honest man and is certainly a very vengeful one.
----------

WASHINGTON - Anita Hill, whose sexual harassment allegations against Clarence Thomas nearly derailed his Supreme Court nomination 16 years ago, said Tuesday she stood by her account of his behavior, disputing Thomas' assertion in a new book that the charges were politically motivated.

"I stand by my testimony" at a 1991 Senate Judiciary hearing on the nomination, Hill wrote in an Op Ed piece in The New York Times. "I will not stand by silently and allow him, in his anger, to reinvent me."

In his book, "My Grandfather's Son," Thomas says Hill, his former employee at the Education Department and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, was a mediocre employee who was used by political opponents to make claims she had been sexually harassed.

Powerful interest groups were out to stop him at all costs and chose "the age-old blunt instrument of accusing a black man of sexual misconduct," he writes. He described Hill as touchy and apt to overreact and said she complained to him only about his refusal to promote her.

Hill, who is also black, disputed Thomas' assertions.

"I was truthful. What I described happened actually did happen, and what I've learned is that it's happened to many women in the workplace," Hill said in an interview Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America." She said she believes the workplace environment is better now for women, but added that Thomas' approach "is really so typical of people accused of wrongdoing. They trash their accusers."

In the 1991 hearings, Thomas adamantly denied Hill's accusations that he made inappropriate sexual remarks, including references to pornographic movies. Thomas says he did talk about X-rated movies while at Yale Law School, adding that so did many other young people in the 1970s.

Hill is now a professor of social policy, law and women's studies at Brandeis University.

1. For what it's worth...At the time I knew a Detective who had been an..
... interrogator for the San Fransisco police dept.
He used to come over to my house quite frequently.

After watching Mrs Hill on TV he turned to me and said (something like)...

"You know XXX (Me)..I've been doing my job for 15 years and I can tell when someone is lying...
...After watching her for several hours, I'd bet my pension that this Lady is telling the Truth"

2. Wouldn't it be cool if President Clinton (HRC)
appointed her to the Supreme court? :)

Just a fantasy.

4. That would give Thomas another chance to abuse,
and there is no law over the Supremes. Thomas is an embarrassment to the Court and to this country, but he cannot be impeached, if he never does anything - which is what he seems to be aiming for...

3. My, my
I wonder if Professor Hill's still-unresolved accusations will get nearly as much play as Justice Slappy's whitewash in our major media? I see Mrs. Slappy is "demanding" an apology from Professor Hill. I'd advise Mrs. Slappy to hold her breath waiting.

5. And Ms Thomas probably really doesn't want to scratch that scab, eh?

6. Ms. Hill should continue to demand an apology from him and I think
there should be an investigation into his book and look at what facts he is using to support his allegations. I think as well ABC or whoever is supporting this book should be asked if they are going to also support answers to his allegations. This guy is being allowed to just rant on after all these years because he got caught.

8. I was shocked to see Anita Hill being interviewed on ABC's Good Morning America today.
Robin Roberts conducted the interview and I thought she did a good job. Anita Hill was excellent. Factual, cool, consistent. ABC played a video of Mrs. Thomas saying that Anita Hill owed her and her husband an apology for the "false" accusations she made. Anita Hill stated that she would not engage in a war of words with Mrs. Thomas, and stated that Mrs. Thomas was not present during the events she described during her appearance at Thomas' Senate confirmation hearings. Hill said she stood by her claims. I thought she came across as extremely credible. Thomas is looking shrill and vindictive.

13. Wasn't she great! I saw the interview and I was impressed!
Hill was so composed and calm. I think Robin was impressed, too.
Compared to Thomas, Hill looks like a saint.

7. I think Slappy's telling the truth about Anita Hill
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 08:30 AM by BOSSHOG
He said he did not harrass her. Why would a conservative republican think that the way conservative republicans treat women constitutes harrassment? That would require taking responsibility for something and that just ain't in their playbook. Anyone who has to hide behind limbaugh's microphone to get his story out is a truly pathetic human being.

9. Why should he bring this up now though?
Why would he think that this point in time was the perfect for this after all these years of silence? I don't get it.

one of the AM coofests yesterday--can't ask the tough questions of her, can we?

We need to repeat it loudly and often--HERITAGE FOUNDATION BIGWIG VIRGINIA LAMP THOMAS.

10. The RRRs accomplished two things with their promotion of Clarence Thomas:
1) The way Ms. Hill's allegations (which I still believe) were spun made a joke out of on the job sexual harrassment, thereby allowing the powerful to continue it as just a "guy" thing--"Don't be so sensitive! We're just having a little fun. and besides, it's a complement!" :puke:

2)They managed to deflect any possible criticism of Clarence Thomas on any political/judicial grounds. By making the ABSURD comparison of a Congressional hearing to a lynching (yeah, sure, Mr. I have no opinion on Brown v. BOW or Roe v. Wade came up with that phrase on his own... :eyes:), they greased the skids to put their useful idiot on the SCOTUS.

We can't sell these slimes too short; fortunately, the public is slowly catching on.
