Torture and rape reported in Iraqi children prisons.

Even children can be detained in Iraq placed in special jails. But that is not enough. They can also be raped, tortured and burned.

That is the new picture emerging from the U.S.-led ‘liberation’ of a country that has been bleeding since U.S. and allies invaded it in 2003.

But the prison disgrace is not this time directly linked to the country’s U.S. occupiers though the world has not yet forgotten their atrocities and inhuman practices at Abu Ghraib prison.

Arab satellite television channels shocked their viewers last week when they aired footage of children bearing marks of torture. The children were detained during military operations in Baghdad neighborhoods of Adhamiya, Latifiya, Doura and Hay al-Amel.

1. Torture, as American as apple pie?
It may already be too late. It is possible, you know, to allow things to go so far that it is too late. Is it too late to stop the poisoning of our country’s most important resource? America’s people are its greatest resource and the goodness of America
may already be contaminated beyond cleansing. New conservatives have polluted many things. They have defiled the name of conservatism itself. I was once proud to be called a conservative! No longer. The word conservative is now thoroughly corrupted. New conservatives have taken good, pure things like patriotism and justice and have beaten them in a fire of fear. Scorched, twisted and weakened, our strengths have been turned against us. The new conservatives have heaped the scorn of a world upon us. Remember when, not so long ago, the world held us up as a shining light?
Now it seems that torture is to be an American word, homemade as apple pie. The Bush administration has worked very hard to poison our minds. They have their torture bill. With that legislation they want us to believe that torturing others will make us safe. Who can be safe in a nation where torture is law? Pity us all if we believe in torture. A nation that tortures others will eventually torture itself. Who will hear this nation speak of freedom over the screams of those we torture? How did we fall so far? How did we let this happen? Fear has beaten freedom. It may indeed be too late.

2. "They have defiled the name of conservatism itself"
Bullshit.

It's the same old conservativism.
