WTF is this? Someone please explain
I was watchin local coverage of the Dallas Cowboy post game. It was on Fox Sport Network. Going to commercial there was an ad saying the U.S. Border Patrol is a proud sponser of the Dallas Cowboys, and then an ad looking for new employees. Why the f**k is the border patrol sponsering an NFL football team, and advertising for employees ?

Then this morning on the radio I hear an ad the the CIA is looking for new employees, and a number to apply.

Is it me or is something wrong with this picture?

:wtf:

4. What's wrong is they're only advertising in Texas!

The CIA and the Border Patrol and the Forest Service are all looking for help.
They all have a lot of positions available. The Forest Service, last I looked,
needed over 300 people!!

But I don't know why any Gov. Dept. is attached to anything commercial.
I think that does blur the lines.

8. I saw an ad for the CIA here in Florida.
I can't remember exactly where but I think it was on a billboard. It struck me as a little strange at the time. I think it just shows how this administration has decimated the ranks of the CIA with their treatment of Valery Plame and their meddling at the agency.

I wonder if the Russians recruit spies with TV ad's and billboards?

9. Yeah, I mean come on
The CIA-Central Intelligence Agency. Think TeeVee is the best place to find intelligence huh? Just seems like a job that shouldn't advertise on the freeking radio/tv/billboard. What will it come to next, cold calling out of the phone book, recruiting at GameStop, what the hell, advertise with a temp agency.

12. Umm... bias is showing here...
There are MANY, MANY intelligent people who enjoy watching football. Ever heard of the Army and Navy football rivalry? I think Harvard and Yale have a football rivalry as well. And I don't think these are schools that "lower the standards for athletes".

As for billboards, if they are on major commuter routes, then it makes sense to me.

I want, not only the best and brightest in our government intelligence, I also want people who come from all walks of life, and all parts of America. Not just the home-grown Washington intelligensia.

BTW, I have always seen the intelligence agencies at engineering job fairs. However, a job fair is not a good place to go if you're looking for someone who is currently employed in the private sector and just never thought about working for the government.

I guess I just don't have a problem with this.

13. No bias here
I realize that intelligent people watch football. I consider myself pretty intelligent but not for the CIA. Intelligence is not the only requirment, but you are missing my bigger point. I never intended to say average people that watch TV, listen to the radio, drive down the road were not intelligent, but it doesn't make them candidates for the CIA either IMO.

However if you don't think anything is wrong with it, that is ok. I asked in my OP if it was me or was it weird. Obviously you think it is me.
