Poll question: YAHP (Yet Another Hillary Poll)
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 11:46 AM by garybeck
A lot of people are saying Hillary won't be much better than what we have now. While I don't want her to get the nomination, I'm not so sure that's the case. What do you think?

On a scale of 1-10 where do you place Hillary Clinton? there are no specific issues you should or should not consider. Just think about what's important to you, whatever it is. Would she make things better for Americans? Fix health care? End the war? Help poor Americans? Restore democracy? Reduce corporate influence in politics? Put us on a better path? Would you be excited about her nomination or presidency? Take all the issues together and just take a stab at it.

Here's the rating method:

On a scale of 1-10

Dennis Kucinich is a 10
George Bush is a 1

Where do you place Hillary Clinton? Where does she fall between the two extremes?

note--- I chose Kucinich because he seems to regularly lead in DU polls and questions about integrity, ideals, ideas. I think most will agree that he is furthest away from GWB on most policy issues and ideas for the future. If you disagree that he is a 10, pick or imagine another candidate you think is the best to be the 10, or just skip this poll.

this is not a scientific poll. take it for what it's worth.

1. Wow, so far I'd say the results indicate that

most people think she's a bit to the left of center, that she's a lot different from Bush, and would improve some things... but at the same time there is also a strong group of people who have very strong dislike for her and think she's a lot closer to Bush in many ways.

Two groups?

(I voted 6).

2. Give it time. I *think* based on Will Pitt's thread, combined with poll-anonymity...
... that you'll see something surprising.

I could be wrong, of course.

4. I think
that when people vote on a poll it should kick the thread. otherwise polls drop down too fast because people vote and don't comment.

someone may have misread your post. Who on earth would think HC is even close to DK on policy issues and ideas for the future?

10. Well someone also voted
that she's the same as Bush. I think both are about equally outrageous. I voted 6.

7. K & R
I voted seven. I don't believe it's possible for any president to please constantly. Compromise is necessary to run any good government, and, I believe, she has shown she does that well.

9. Over half the voters find Hillary on Bush's half of the aisle, not Dennis's
That should say something.

11. more questions than answers
why is she still leading in the polls?

it is because she's so "center?"

I get the feeling that the party is just taking the liberal base for granted and going after the middle ground.

12. A lot of political women in my state are supporting Hillary
Elected officials, I mean. They are progressives, so I am surprised. I am going to go to the organizing meeting to hear what they have to say. Hillary is not even in the top 3 for me, but I respect these women and want to hear their perspective.

13. I know, I got an email from my town's rep from the Democratic Party asking me to
support Hillary. I wrote back and explained why I can't. I told her I would probably vote for her reluctantly but I won't do anything beyond that, whereas for someone else like Gore or Kucinich I would go the extra mile.

14. That's about where I am at-
but I will still go to the meeting since these are powerful progressives. I have the feeling that there is some method to their madness- like becoming the progressive wing of a Hillary administration? so I just want to take a look.
