Who will be the Jeebus Candidate to drain votes from the Giuliani GOP?
From Needlenose.com:

http://www.needlenose.com/node/view/4346

Jeebus candidate? Oh yeah!

I got that Yello song going through my head...you know the one..."Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!"

The Old Testiclites, feeling a bit "Left Behind" by the GOP, are threatening to back a third-party candidate if Giuliani gets the party nomination in '08.

Hell if the Fundees take their voting block with them, even Kucinich could win on the Dem side against Rudy!

Who would they pick as their Jeebus candidate in '08? I can think of a few folks:

Ex-Judge Roy Moore

Ex-Vice President Dan Quayle

ExLiberian Gold Investor Pat Robertson

<Any other nominations? Maybe the corpse of Timothy McVeigh?>

2. I think if they don't like this country they should move
Why should they stay here and be miserable when they can go elsewhere and be miserable. Serious question "christians." Or do you really really secretly like all the secular shit that America has to offer?

3. I'm gonna go with Roy Moore. He's the only one who has come out and SAID Gays should be put to death
Well, Pat Robertson has probably said it, too, but he's already had his flash in the pan.

6. Moore would be my choice as well
I think Robertson had his day back in '88 or '92, or whenever that was...

4. Gingrich
Notice how he has again backed off on not saying if he'll run or not after saying he wouldn't unless he got 30 million. My bets are his phone rang from Dobson asking him to reconsider. Yep, Gnewt's womanizing is a problem, but he's no worse than the other options...especially Rudy. They overlooked divorce with Raygun and drug use and draft dodging by boooshie. They had hoped Thompson would come to their rescue, but they see what an empty suit he is...even for that crowd.

7. I would think they'd go for DeLay before they'd go for Newt.
Granted, Newt is a suitably pompous windbag, but his religiosity is totally shallow. Start him talking about computers and future shock and he'll drop Jesus like a hot potato.

DeLay, on the otherhand, has the right humorless self-righteousness about him to fill the bill.

8. One Little Problem...
DeLay is made to order for these zealots, except for his ongoing legal mess. Nothing worse than supporting a candidate whose on trial or, even more amusing, has been convicted. Plus Tommy's making too much money juicing his K Street contact, being President would be a step down in life for him. But I wouldn't be surprised if his phone rang as well.

13. yes, but they don't want a choice
they want to be told that Huckabee is the annointed one, and instead they are being told that Rudy is,
so they're leaving, the Republicans don't want a menu choice.

15. Good point. I have close friends and family who are Repubs
And thinking for themselves, in political terms anyway, isnt their strong suit.

Huckabee actually worries me the most - and it still isn't much. But I was in grad school when he was Gov...hes a charming, tricky, fundie.

19. he has an air of humility about him that is misleading
he is a fanatic and I think he would be another isolated president who would be making from the "gut" decisions.

12. Oooh... Let them go with Roy Moore
The republican vote wouldn't just be split - it would be fractured! I bet in some red states, the split would be so great that any of the democrats would win them.

16. Could it be the RR is really trying to set up a Deal??
I remember at the time of GWB running for President, some
of the Groups wanted and ran J Ashcroft. They cut a deal
in which Ashcroft would be Attorney General and they would
support Bush.

Yesterday, Tony Perkins said the Report about 3rd Party
was a Proclamation of Principle rather than a Declaration
of Intent.

There appears to be a struggle going on in GOP.

Business Types and some Surburbanites vs Christian Coalition.

Could it be the CC just want to let the party know they have
some clout but may deal?????

20. I think the fundies should draft Jeebus himself.
Hey, they're absolutely certain that the Big J.C. is coming back aaaaaaany day now ... Well, here is the perfect opportunity for that supernatural sandal-and-beard wearing hippie to come back to the Earthly realm and prove all of us atheist/agnostics wrong.

22. Pat Robertson ran before & is a logical choice.
He probably has the most support of the RWing Fundies.

I don't think Rudy G. will garner the nomination. He is self destructing. If he keeps imploding for another 5 months he won't win in Iowa or NH.

Rudy G. & Fred will cancel each other out. I still feel that Mitt will be the nominee.

Bush family hedges its bets for 2008
By Alexander Bolton
March 26, 2007

Much of Jeb’s inner circle has picked Romney. The list includes Sally Bradshaw, who served as Gov. Bush’s campaign manager in 1994 and 1998 and as his first gubernatorial chief of staff; Ann Herberger, who was the governor’s campaign finance director; and Mandy Fletcher, who recently headed Bush’s think tank, Foundation for Florida’s Future, and worked on his reelection. In addition, Alan Philp, Bush’s former policy director, is coordinating policy and issues for Romney.

Jeb Bush’s former lieutenant governor Toni Jennings, Al Cardenas, who served as Florida GOP chairman under Jeb, David Griffin, who headed Jeb’s second -term transition office and was the Florida Lottery Secretary, Sherri McVay, executive director of Jeb’s statewide advocacy council, and Kristy Campbell, the former governor’s press secretary, are all playing roles in Romney’s campaign.
