Bruce Springsteen, Tom Hanks and their Good Friend Dennis Miller?
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 02:24 AM by springhill
I had to read it a couple of times. But there was a blurb in People Magazine about them all sailing together. Evidently they are all good friends. What?

6. Yeah, but Bruce I know *is* very political
And passionate about it. I guess they like to argue. :)

5. Huh? That is just... odd.
Honestly if you asked me I would think Bruce would push his ass overboard given the chance.

Of course we only know their public persona, but dang, that is an odd group of friends, lol.

7. Not that weird, really...
Hunter S. Thompson and Pat Buchanan were friends, after all. Strange as it may seem, sometimes people can actually get along despite political differences.

8. I get along fine with my republican friends
As long as we avoid the topic of politics, heh. But some people love to argue even with their buddies or even because of it. I've never been like that.

I think it was just adding "nice guy Tom Hanks" into the threesome that made the whole thing funny and weird.

9. No, I think less of him (Bruce Springstein) if it is true.
I've never been friends with a right wing republican. Acquaintances? Yes, of course.

There's something very disgustingly arrogant with their "more for me" and "none for you" philosophy of run-away unregulated Capitalism.

Even when we don't talk politics, that nasty air of superiority seeps out and stinks up the place.

Civil? Yes. Cordial? Sure. But NOT EVER trusting friendships with any right winger. My neighborhood is crawling with them. They're like roaches and I keep my distance. Remember, the right wingers will be those volunteering for the SS should we ever fully go NAZI. :puke:

It's a mystery to me.

10. I don't know, we only know Miller as a "comedian"
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 02:49 AM by incapsulated
We don't know what he is like as an ordinary person, he may not be anywhere near as obnoxious.

I don't think less of Bruce, regardless. Who his friends are is his business. His politics are exactly the same before you knew this, so what does it matter to you?

13. It matters. Dennis Miller is an opportunistic a**hole who took advantage
of 9/11 and the lack of right wing comedians.

No, it's just me, but right wingers are not the kind of people I would place ANY trust in. :(

But hell, Springstein's a millionaire and ultra-popular, so he don't have to give a damn about a "little person" like me thinking less of him.

14. Then you miss out on some very good but misguided people
And every single one I consider a friend has abandoned the GOP, fyi. Even my cousin, a lifer republican, I never thought I would see the day. People can change.

15. Perhaps moderate secular republicans but NOT right wingers.
They are entrenched in their KIND's innate superiority. Like I mentioned above, they will be the first in line to sign up for the SS if we turn 100% Authoritarian as a Country. :(

16. I don't know that Miller is what we would consider a winger, in reality
A lot of this could be an act, even if he is a republican. Doesn't make me loathe him any less, but I only know the public person I see. Which is more than enough for me, heh. Maybe Bruce knows him from back before he even made this part of his act, he wasn't always a political comedian, not back when he was on SNL.

Just that he may not be the total asshole he is on the tv, in rl.

Then again maybe assholes amuse Bruce and Tom, I dunno, heh.
