Archbishop who wanted to deny communion to Kerry steers away from talking about death penalty, war
Roman Catholic Archbishop Raymond Burke, who made headlines last presidential season by saying he'd refuse Holy Communion to John Kerry, has his eye on Rudy Giuliani this year. Giuliani's response: "Archbishops have a right to their opinion."

Asked if the same would apply to politicians who support the death penalty or pre-emptive war, he said, "It's a little more complicated in that case."

1. Dear ARcbishop Burke, do you care to explain how it is a little more complicated to
judge and withhold communion for war/invasion/occupation and death penalty supporters than for anyone who supports the right to choose?

You see, from my human understanding of things ... they are all still a judgment call based on your own political views.

I can't for once or one minute imagine God refusing his presence to anyone who comes seeking Him.
Why should you? And why is it that in hospitals, when priests take communion to those who are sick and/or dying there, they don't deny communion to anyone who asks for it, because, they say, it is not up to them to judge anyone.

Is there a distinction between a private, and what you call a "public," sin?

And, what is a sin, anyhow? Or, what are the conditions for a sin to be committed?

Sounds like you are just playing with words, Bishop. It seems like playing with words is the name of the game these days. Truth seems tohave eluded us. And, wasnt Christ supposed to be the Truth and the Light? Where is your own following of the Truth and the Light?

As An African - American Catholic I find Cardinal Burke's pick
and choose morality very disturbing. Please do not politicize
the Church, it can only destroy it. BEYONCE WELCH - A Very
