I didn't know Tweety used to be a cop. As in carry a gun and wear a badge. Did anyone know that?

His wife, Kathleen, is a long time DC local teevee news anchor (who is no longer doing that).

Its pretty interesting.

1. They are really cute together.
He gets this silly smile when he looks at her. I did not know he used to be a cop either.

12. Plus he has a book to sell. And cute sells.
Man, Jon Stewart ripped him a new hole the other night.

"That book has already been written, too. It's called The Prince."

Stewart is the only "news" anchor in the business who trusts his audience enough to get that reference.

22. He was a RENT A COP for about THREE (3) months. Capitol policeman.
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 06:43 PM by UTUSN
Now, before somebody decides this is a slur on Capitol policemen, Tweety himself never brought it up UNTIL those shootings of 2 or 3 Capitol plicemen in (1997?) and when he saw that they were being called "heroes" all over the media for days. THAT's when he decided to bring it up.

Everything about Tweety is about SELF-promotion!!1 When SNL -------*satirized*------ him, he took it as being a TRIBUTE, and he couldn't stop saying, "I. Am. An. ICON. I have been 'done' on SNL!!1"

8. This is nothing but damage control after his pathetic little ego
was stomped on by Jon Stewart the other night. He is the only news person I know of that always plays his appearances on other shows (I'm betting The Daily Show classic won't be airing), throws himself a week long anniversary party every damn year and he, along with Lou Dobbs, gets off reading their fan mail on air as if to assure themselves they are still relevant. Not. Pandering, thy name is Tweets.

If you can't get a soft interview from the gal who was stupid enough to marry you...

11. Is this a joke? Tweety interviewed by his wife?
This is the fuckin' guy that has spent years trashing both Clintons and Al Gore, doing everything except an on-air fellating of chimpie and now, we would be subjected to a hard hitting interview by his wife? I say would be because I turned soon as I figured just how hard hitting it was.
Next, Andrea Mitchell will do an indepth interview of Allen Greenspan. Dan Abrams is off his medication.

21. she is handling him with kid gloves. careful not to bruise/shatter his ego
which seems to be really frail, especially after the smack down JS gave him the other day. Also, they seem to think that he is some great deep intellectual guy, who likes to think a lot and likes to write books for "immortality's' sake ... the sad thing is, hardly will those books ever compare to the writings of great thinkers past or present ... although tweety wants it to ... and that is where his ego can be so easily bruised (like it was the other night during the JS show) , and that is where kathleen is so careful in her handling of him that it is pitiful. wonder what goes on behind closed doors. are they stilll so lovey dovey or the they throw the dishes at one another? he is so focused on the clintons. i wonder if he senses that the Clinton's' marriage has a deeper j'ai ne sois qua, or that the Clinton's, each, have achieved greater greatness (pardon the redundancy) than he or kathleen have or ever will. Sad.

23. Re-run at 7:31 ET right now. Repost from an earlier thread:
So he will FAKE call her "my queen, Kathleen" while he emotionally abuses her.

Will his bud the plaigiarist, whassisname from Boston, be there, too? When the two of them get together and Queen Kathleen is there, they carry on like the infantile schoolboys they are, making fun of her while she's delivering some straight reporting. He and O'LOOFAH are prisoners inside their clautrophobic cultural background.

Besides NOT listening to anybody, as Jon told him, the overly high flown rhetoric he uses is a sign of his noise-noise-noise signifying nothing in content.

27. Who has had a seminal experience? "Hillary. Surviving that marriage."
Yip, Mr & Mrs Tweety managed to transliterate a phrase like "seminal experience" into a raunchy pun.

"Bill made her tougher."

Then Tweety brings up one of his man crushes, McCAIN. That might explain it.

34. Parting shot: Kathleen seems very nice. I have NO idea why she is hooked down to him.
There was a hint of problems while he was drinking. She plows through his over-talking and interruptions.

There must be some PTSD in her over what can EASILY be seen to be abuse from him, from his drinking, verbally, emotionally.

Is it ambition on her part, since it's not economics?

36. Thank you. There are plenty right here at DU who say he ALWAYS OPPOSED THE WAR
In the run-up, there was nobody who was drumbeating the war more than he was. And he performed the on-air execution of DONAHUE, who WAS against the war, off of MSRNC.
