So... what candidate do you support?

I'll just have to say that my candidate isn't in this race and I'm starting to think he won't be either. Al Gore!

So, I have lived in the state that brought Bill and Hillary into the national spotlight, and I've found Hillary lacking...

I am not so sure about Obama

Kucinich has good ideas, but little money and little support

what happened to the democratic wing of the democratic party?

I'm sure I'm asking for flames, but seriously, give me a reason to support someone, I'm struggling with it.

Obama is against the Iraq war, but my support seems to end there for him.

So, carry on, flame away, :D

:hi:

1. I don't have a candidate. And I doubt I will.
I'll vote against Hillary in my late and meaningless primary, and for whoever is the nom in the general.

3. I think we are all struggling with it.
I hate the idea that Hillary is being chosen for us by the media. Obama confuses me, Kucinich has no money, I like Dodd, I like Richardson, but they don't have a shot in hell, I love that Edwards is living on the edge, sometimes Biden makes me cheer.

Bottom line...I don't like Tweety telling me Hillary will be the one to get the nomination.

15. I don't know that my slowness to get behind anybody is a lack on THEIR part.
I just have a hard time generating any enthusiasm right now. Probably because I thoroughly believed that Gore was going to get in. I was saving myself for him. Now it looks like he isn't running and nobody else is really doing it for me. I kind of liked Edwards, but the longer this goes, the more I think that was left over from '04. Obama doesn't give me that 'brave leader' vibe. Hillary DEFINITELY has the "LEADER" vibe, but I am not sure about where she is leading. Kucinich has good ideas, but I honestly don't think he is good President material. Gravel, again, good ideas...doesn't impress me as a President. To me, a President is as much about the single person as it is about the team they put together.

10. my 2 cents
My primary vote will go to Kucinich right now. I will also state that any candidate that is serious about trying to get public financing for elections will get consideration for my vote.

No on Hillary - corporate lackey who likes the status quo and accepts way too much corporate $$$ Totally ignores the NAFTA, CAFTA question so I assume she thinks these are good things that don't need to be changged. No real ideas on healthcare, Iraq, or education.

Maybe on Obama - Main problem - CFR affiliation, but has not accepted much in the way of corporate donation (good thing). No real plan for dealing with Iraq, healthcare, education. Totally ignores the NAFTA, CAFTA question so I assume he thinks these are good things that don't need to be changged.

Edwards - a little more of a populist. If it has to be one of the top 3, I would hope it is Edwards, as he has the most hope for implementing some change in a system that wants to play by its own rules (the corporation always wins) than by playing by the rules that actually benefit the regular citizens of this country. Again, no real ideas on healthcare, education, NAFTA, CAFTA, IRAQ etc.

Why I like Kucinich

Accepts almost no corporate funding. Really wants to buck the system and try to steer it as much as possible to the regular Joe. Against NAFTA, CAFTA, etc and has pledged to remove the US from those trade agreements. A big proponent of public financing of elections. His main problem is that he is not pretty (not good for the media cameras) and would run into makor roadblocks trying to change the system if elected and would run the risk of not getting much done because of the other two branches blocking his every move. Another thing that would sink DK is his wanting to downsize the military industrial complex. A move that wouldn't be able to be accomplished until public financing had been in place for a few years.

I gues I wouldn't mind an Edwards\Kucinich ticket. Any ticket with Hillary is just the same old status quo from DC with no real change (which this country needs desperately if we are to continue being the only world superpower or even keep our standards of living to a reasonable level).

Problems with Gore - Gore was a major proponent of NAFTA and the WTO as VP (He swore up and down during the debates with Perot that these trade agreements would be great for the US). If he decided to run, he would have to do a 180 on these agreements. These agreements are very bad for the environment and workers rights. Without removing America from these agreements he would not be able to affect any significant change in regards to the environment which he purports to be so concerned about. If Gore decided to run, that issue would be the main deciding factor on if I vote for Gore or not. I will even overlook who he is married to and the damage she inflicted on this country with the PMRC and the like.

...but just because anything on the other side is soooooooo beyond bad and evil, I cannot find the words to decribe it.

While I would work for any Dem candidate for Prez besides Hillary and like I said I would vote for any of them including Hillary, if Clark or Gore were running, I would be out there busting my butt to get either or both of them elected and not just working for either or both of them.

It sounds like DK may fit the best for you based on what ya said (don't follow the money) - its about who best represents your ideals.

DK is the man for me minus one miracle - an Al Gore entrance.

I've said many times, Al is the ONLY candidate I'd trade my Kucinich vote for....

Of course, don't listen to me.

Its up to you.

Though more than anything, I hope you exercise your right to vote for who ever you chose!

Kucinich in the lead by two lengths, followed by
Edwards in second place by a half length over
Obama in third place by a head, trailed by
Biden in fourth place by a nose ahead of
Dodd in fifth place by a head, trailed by
Richardson in sixth place who's one length ahead of
Gravel in seventh place with
Clinton trailing the field by two lengths and increasing.

... and then came Beetlebomb!!

40. Hoping Gore will get in but if not I'll probably go with Richardson or I could cast a protest vote.
My problem is that the presidency is not an entry level job. Richardson's got the credentials, unfortunately he's proved singularly inept at the sound bite game.

I like Obama a great deal but I don't see where in his resume theres much that indicates he could actually run the country--he could still win me over but it's not going to be easy.

I like Edward's populism but have a great deal of difficulty getting around the fact that he not only voted for but championed the Iraq War Resolution. That was a major lapse in judgment.

I like Biden's foreign policy realism but have problems with his championing that dreadful bankruptcy bill.

Dodd seems like a nice guy but he hasn't a snowball's chance in hell.

Clinton would fight like hell for the job--the question is should she have it.

Kucinich would be my choice for a protest vote if by the time my state holds it's primary the candidate had been picked already and the candidate happened to be Hillary Clinton--I could do worse.

41. Kucinich
Edited on Thu Oct-04-07 10:08 PM by mvd
He shares my views almost exactly on the occupation, health care, environment, death penalty, education, working to help the poor and middle class, tax burden, free trade, and more. Sometimes my rhetoric isn't as sharp, but he keeps things honest.

Despite my support for Kucinich, all of the Democratic candidates are well worth voting for IMO. Though my enthusiasm would be to different degrees.
