My late and beloved dad, who grew up on a farm in Mississippi during the Great Depression, had a wonderful old saying when someone was messing their lives up in public; "Son," he'd tell me, "it's just like a cat smearing shit on a mirror." God knows, that sure fits the Republican Party state of affairs these days.

John Warner declares he's out of the Senate in Virginia opening up a great shot for the Democrats there.

Chuck Hagel declares he's bowing out giving Bob Kerrey a great shot to be Senator in Nebraska.

Alberto Gonzales resigns from the Justice Department in disgrace.

Karl Rove flees the sinking ship like the rat that he truly is.

John McCain flips and flops until he unites Christians, Jews and Muslims all despise him.

Ron Paul upsets the the entire applecart by raising more and more money for his GOP campaign.

And George W. Bush, the shallow fool who pledged to be a "compassionate conservative" vetoes one of the only bills the Congress sends him in seven years that punishes sick children.

Dad, if you can hear me where ever you may be, there's a cat smearing shit all over the mirror and it sure is great fun to watch!

since I've always had cats and have never seen one of them smear shit on a mirror, I would also compare the Publicans to a cat who has a giant dingleberry stuck under his tail that just won't budge!
