Lynne Cheney to Appear on Comedy’s Daily Show
Lynne Cheney to Appear on Comedy’s Daily Show
Vice President’s Wife Appearing on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart for the First Time
By Marisa Guthrie -- Broadcasting & Cable, 10/5/2007 12:49:00 PM

Lynne Cheney, wife of Vice President Dick Cheney, will make her first appearance on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Wednesday at 11 p.m. (EST/PST).

Cheney is coming on the show to talk about her latest book, Blue Skies, No Fences: A Memoir of Childhood and Family, about coming of age in the post World War II Wyoming.

Stewart has made the Second Lady’s husband the butt of much derision, winding up one recent segment with the following witticism: “Every time Dick Cheney smiles … an angel gets water-boarded.”

But Stewart is nothing if not respectful to his on-air guests.

1. Jon, you've GOT to ask her about the book "Sisters".
Please, oh please, oh please, oh please.

2. No. A thousand times no. Let her sell her book elsewhere; she is a killer.
This is the worst guest ever on The Daily Show, and an astoundingly bad decision. Her husband is a war criminal, and one of the worst Americans in the history of this nation - and one of the worst people in the history of the world. He is also not done yet. She is no prize, either. Draw a line here.

This is awful. Just awful.

5. I can't wait to see it
I am sure Jon Stewart will not be able to resist going all out on her. I expect it will be one of his most combative interviews ever. If it isn't I will be very disappointed in him and I will lose a lot of respect, but I am hopeful that this is going to be one of his best interviews ever.

3. Poor Jon
I hope she cancels. He doesn't need to be exposed to her.

9. I know... that was a definite departure from how he usually...
treats his guests - let's hope its a trend.

This interview is going to be off the chain! I can't wait. Jon is going to completely destroy the evil queen of the neocons!!!

8. Lynn Cheney has been on TDS before
I saw her once before the last time she wrote some children's book IIRC about the Revolutionary War.

All you who are expecting Jon to rip her to shreds I'm betting will be disappointed. He's almost always quite courteous even to his ultraconservative guests. I've watched him pretty consistently since 2004, and I've only seen one other interview like the one he had with Tweety the other night. He'll probably be quite pleasant to her, unless she makes the mistake of complaining about his "You don't know Dick" segments.

10. She's hostile in interviews. I hope Stewart turns her to breadcrumbs.
I've never heard an interview with That Woman that was pleasant or informative. She's nothing but mean.

12. He'll be courteous. I hope he asks her repeatedly how much she loves Dick.
