I heard the Fundies are rapidly losing the youth support, and I'm very happy!
I heard this on several different talk shows in the last 2 days...the most recent was Bernie Ward this morning. The fundie groups like Focus on the Family etc. are very concerned because their children who they've indoctrinated for years to live a certain lifestyle aren't buying it anymore. Their newest idea is to establish youth group gatherings where lots of teens and young adults get together to play some new video game called In the Halo or Under the Halo, or something like that.

In addition to this, almost all the Sunday talk shows today were talking about how big of a losing plan it was for the fundies to insist on promoting a "Third Party Candidate" because they're just not happy with any of the current Pub candidates. One talking head even said "Maybe they realizze the Pubs don't stand a chance in 08, so they're going to exert their power behind a third party candidate, knowing they can't win anyway, but try to maintain their influence for the 2012 run."

I see this as very good news for US the people on both sides of the asile! It sure looks like the fundies are imploding, not because of anything WE did, but because of what they're doing to themselves!

2. Not only that, but atheism is at an all time high among 17-24 year olds
Which means, we're finally shedding that Ol' Time Religion!

4. great news.
the ignorance which followed the great revivals of the late 19th century, and the start of radio religion, then Televangilism, is finally being eroded by the tubes.

3. No surprise. Why would a majority of young people listen to neanderthals?

6. One of the many interesting scenes in the Jesus Camp documentary
showed a mother home-schooling her teenage son. She was "explaining" why global warming "wasn't a very big problem," by getting him to parrot back to her that the earth was warming "only" about a degree a year. My teenage sons howled when they saw the scene. If the earth is warming at the rate of one degree a year as the fundy mom was telling her son, then in twenty years it will be twenty degrees warmer, and in one hundred years the earth will be 100 degrees warmer.

The home-schooled boy in the scene was clearly puzzled as to why this wasn't a problem. When his mom followed up by stating that global warming was a big political issue, but creationism was not, he looked even more puzzled.

Right then and there I saw that there was no way that a majority of these kids are going to buy this nonsense. Then I saw the documentary about the little Nazi singing twins, and saw how disgusted they are with their storm-trooper mom, and I saw that the right-wing fundy's entire movement is falling apart right in their own families.

Good.

7. People with even half a brain Evolve.
I didn't question the way things were until I went to college and was exposed to a variety of viewpoints. I don't see the rwing fundies giving up political control over the gop easily however. They have a lust for power, control and blood.

11. Oh, I don't think they'll GIVE UP control! There just won't be enough of them
to BE a controling force. The core fundies will Never GIVE UP, but I think they'll just be a distant voice in the wind...and a voice that few people will pay any attention to.

I don't care what they believe or how they live THEIR lives. I just want them to stay the hell out of MY LIFE!

13. I agree. The core will never give in.
The TV preachers are never going to get honest jobs. I want them politically impotent. That's my wish. First them, then the neocons.
