If you Do that Ancestry DNA Testing does it open you up to Health Insurance Restrictions?

I see that CBS "60 Minutes" is promoting a couple of Genaeology Sites who do DNA Testing for a Fee."

It's all hyped as finding your ancestors...and you might be related to ROYALTY or Genghis Ghan or William the Conqueror.

And...African Americans are searching along with the rest of us. BUT...WHO in the BUSH/CHENEY/CHERTOFF Administration might be USING THIS TO DENY YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE...or for other Nefarious Purposes.

So ...if you do these studies...you need to be AWARE that "THEY--Ministry of Health under Bush" are cataloging all this info while YOU PAY and it might bite us all in the butts when they go through our Medical Files to see what "genetic markers" we have for DISEASE that could DENY US HEALTH CARE IN THE FUTURE.

It's sounds so good...looking for your Ancestor Roots...BUT WHO WILL BE USING THIS INFO AGAINST US in the FUTURE? :shrug:

Just a caution... Something that sounds so Cool...RESEARCH for your ANCESTORS...but the USE could be what Nazi's did to use your Heritage against YOU! Yellow Stars...whatever...

1. I'd worry less about the current administration and look at the bigger picture.

Until there are solid privacy laws in this country the results of DNA testing done in a nonmedical setting are something to approach with caution.

It's actually quite fascinating and is doing a lot to further the study of humankind and migration patterns. If they (the gubmint/insurance cos.) want to note I'm from haplogroup R1b, well good for them.

Second thought: Easier to devise genetically targeting viruses if you have lots of data on the genetic makeup of particular populations.
