Bad weekend for Obama -Now wants to be instrument of Ga-yawd...
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/10/07/obama-gop-doesnt-own-faith-and-values/

CNN-100707
"Sometimes this is a difficult road being in politics," Obama said. "Sometimes you can become fearful, sometimes you can become vain, sometimes you can seek power just for power's sake instead of because you want to do service to God. I just want all of you to pray that I can be an instrument of God in the same way that Pastor Ron and all of you are instruments of God."

5. heh. How noble of you to try and save us from ourselves because
of course, if we don't agree with your interpretation of things, we must just be mindless idiots. And I notice that you spend a considerable amount of time attacking Obama.

Do you have a candidate you like or support?

2. My conclusion is that Senator Obama would reclaim religious heritage among
voters as a bipartisan idea reaching back centuries, well past Jim Dobson's office.

I think it's a necessary, and inventive, and inspired strategy. And Obama has the brains and heart to pull it off.

Two-thousand eight is the political year that Jesus swaps his red robe for a blue one.

4. dou you realize just how heretical that is?
you said>"Two-thousand eight is the political year that Jesus swaps his red robe for a blue one."

Do you realize just how heretical that is to politisize the god/son/holy ghost of one of the major religions of the world? Dam good thing you aren't a Muslim and said that about old Muhammed!

I simply think it crass, venal and somewhat ill-conceived.

7. I use adjectives like "venal" for Dick Nixon. Not Democrats.

You appear to delight in stirring trouble.

Your post disrespects others' insights into a complex and intelligent candidate.

As for me, I'm nothing if not crass and heretical.

8. Not just hyperbole, but if you're suggesting that
if Obama a Constitutional lawyer with a history of speaking FOR the separation of Church and State, is elected prez, he would utterly demolish that principle, you're full of s***.

10. not suggesting anythong other than...
Obama has fallen into the trap of playing to very narrow specific demographics. He was 'preaching' to the choir so to speak. And if he is such a damned sharp lawyer how could he make two major 'Blunders' in two consecutive days. Wants to be Gods instrument for running the country on Sunday, and the previous day said he would NOT have the DOJ investigate the previous administration...in effect giving them 'Free and Open' access to the nations vaults, and matches with which to finish the destruction of the Constitution.

I had absolutely no problem with the thought of voting fro Obama, PRIOR to those two remarks. Sometimes it's best to believe what these characters say...and I DON'T like what he has said.

18. You might consider looking at his history as an entirety
instead of cherry picking. Nah, you wouldn't want to do that.

And he said that if there was evidence of wrongdoing he would have the JD, pursue. But of course, you neglected to include that.

Oh, and that's not a narrow demographic. It's a broad one. I may not like that much, but that's a fact.

they both work fro me. I am using Firefox 2.0 on XP laptop. I don't know what to say other than maybe Google the story or go to CNN directly.

I will ignore the implied insult that I may have 'fabricated' this story.

19. Thank you
Just as I suspected. The man was speaking in a church. Kind of makes a difference, doesn't it?

Also from the story:

Asked by CNN if he talks about faith more in churchgoing South Carolina than he does in the other early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire, Obama said: "I don't talk about it all the time, but when I'm in church I talk about it."

I very clearly stated that you tend to post statements about Mr. Obama out of context. Like this time, where you left out that the man was speaking in a church.

20. Actually, it was not at all a bad week for Senator Obama.
His fundraising continued at a fairly amazing pace, with smaller donors impressively constituting a huge chunk of the total;

He drew a gigantic crowd of folks in lower Manhattan just a few days ago who were described by reporters as rapt and enthusiastic.

His scheduled appearance in Madison had to be relocated owing to demand for tickets.

His remarks on religious faith in America skillfully and strategically revisited themes he touched on in his keynote address in Boston in 04, which propelled him to the national stage.

If that's a bad week, I'm Gene Autry.

Come on, Obama. I can get this crap from Republicans *and* a tax break for my trouble.
