Karl Rove tells the Washington Post that he hopes not to go down in history as simply “Bush’s guy.” “I have a chance to create something else. I’m not just going to be typecast as, ‘Oh, that’s the Bush guy,’” Rove said. Wayne Slater, the author of Bush’s Brain, writes, “Et tu, Karl? Distancing Yourself from Bush?”

Credit: APOddly, even Bush's Brain seems to be putting a little light between himself and the man he helped make president.
He's not dissing the boss. Far from it. But in a Washington Post piece, Rove makes this curious observation: He doesn't want to be identified solely by his ties to George W. Bush. Hmm, that from the man whose whole identity has been defined by his ties to George W. Bush.
Says the story: "He knows he will go down in history as Bush's 'architect,' but he thinks he can expand his identity beyond just that. 'It's not like my life from here forward is going to be defined by it,' he said. "I have a chance to create something else. I'm not just going to be typecast as, 'Oh, that's the Bush guy.'"
He offered up his observations while in Dallas for a meeting on the future Bush library. Besides helping build the library, his plans to write a book include this promise: "It will be vicious and slashing," he said. Nobody does it better.
