Let's see if I got this straight.
In 2003, Iran sends a long note, suggesting cooperation, exchange of intel and even offers to release important Al Qaida figures they arrested to us for interogation, to recognize Israel, to stop working with Hezbolah, and to begin other steps in safeguarding peace in the region. In 2003, in response, Bush labels Iran part of an Axis of Evil.
In 2005, it becomes obvious that a civil war is brewing in IraqNam, with the Sunnis being the major force of destruction and source of death among US troops. The Sunnis are actively supported with weapons and money by our close friend Saudi Arabia.
In 2006, we push Israel to invade Lebanon, supporting them with illegal munitions, sat-intel, billions of dollars and weaponry. Despite (because?) of our help, Israel bloodies its own nose, realizing that the US is becoming the kiss of death in the muddle east. We refuse to step in and start talks, instead threatening Syria with a possible invasion. Condi comes across as a petulant, petty, insignificant and dim-witted twit.
In 2006, the IraqNam situation is studied closely by Pappy Bush's best friends, who do their best to dig Junior out of his hole of his own making. He ignores their report. Pretends to listen to people, then pointedly, petulantly, publically, and positively ignores everyone's advice.
Condi goes on the record that it is impossible to negotiate with Iran, because they are our enemy and by simply talking, we would lose some element of control or power. (ignoring 100 years of negotiations with enemies in many continents, wars, and problem regions). Dick Cheney says, "we cannot afford to negotiate with them." George Bush says we cannot afford to negotiate with Iran. Negotiating with bad guys never solves anything.
After negotiating with NORTH KOREA for a year, tangible results are seen, mainly because the Russians and Chinese do most of the negotiating.
SO, if have have this right, we negotiated with North Korea because it was the right thing to do, as seen by the results, but it is wrong to negotiate with a country that offered a huge olive branch and active cooperation against Wahabist-based Al Qaida and their Sunni sister organizations.
To think that I thought Bush was delusional. I was wrong. He's frigging INSANE.
