surrounding Blackwater and their reported use in New Orleans, do you believe that the U.S. government should be using private contractors for combat positions overseas and even more importantly, do you believe that Federal, State or Local governments should EVER, under ANY circumstances, be allowed to use private "for hire" contractors in a law enforcement role in the United States and against American citizens?

Ask them this: Given the news of the abuses of power by Blackwater and other mercenary troops, will you pledge to prohibit the hiring of private contractors in military or law enforcement roles foreign and domestic?

John Edwards has made that pledge, with one caveat. He said that in the rare instance where private security must be hired to augment the military, the ops will be under the command of the Pentagon and subject to military code.
