SCHIP costs same as 40 days in Iraq
from RawStory: http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Pelosi_compares_vetoed_health_care_against_1007.html

The Measure vetoed last week by President Bush to provide millions of children with affordable health coverage would cost what the Pentagon spends every 40 days in Iraq, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

Appearing on the program Fox News Sunday, moderator Chris Wallace asked Pelosi if she would compromise with the president if she failed to round up enough votes to override his veto.

"The president calls himself the decider," Pelosi responded, "and I don't know why he would want to decide that one child has health care and another does not."

"Would you consider for the sake of getting an increased expansion, not the seven billion but more than one billion , would you make a deal," Wallace asked her a moment later.

"Well, let's understand what the president is proposing," Pelosi said. "What the president is proposing right now is a diminishment of the number of children who are covered at the present time. He's cutting off about a million children from the rolls," reiterating that in his budget, the president set aside for SCHIP enough money to cover five million children instead of the current six million.

"The president says he doesn't believe in this," Pelosi told Wallace. "We say, but if you believe in it for five million children, why don't you believe in it for ten million children?"

1. Legalize Cannabis for Adults..
And the taxes not wasted on prohibition and the tax collected on its sale will pay for SCHIP.

2. lessen or eliminate these corporatist manufactured military commitments
and repeal the tax giveaway that the top 2% received (70% of the cuts going to that crowd)

They are stealing from us like teenagers would if they were left home alone for 5 years and they had a basement of money.

5. And help many ill people.
As well as some who aren't. And did we mention the boon to the snack industry?

That's a whole lotta good with one little legalization.
