Aides say Thompson has held several practice sessions at campaign headquarters near Washington -- where they have paced him with timed responses and reviews of the answers.

Liz Sidoti of the Associated Press reports that Thompson has played against a stand-in for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani: former New York Sen. Alfonse D'Amato.
