Sen. Craig to be inducted into Hall of Fame.
Edited on Mon Oct-08-07 08:55 PM by Old Crusoe
Senator Larry Craig, whose political profile took a hit of negative publicity after a summer arrest in a men's room stall in the Minneapolis airport, will be inducted into Idaho's Hall of Fame, it was announced this week.

Might be a typo. Likely should be: Hole of Fame. No one had heard of Larry Craig until that Minnesota policeman arrested him, and even then it took weeks to hit the MSM.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is said to be pricing plans to get rid of ol' Larry before the 2008 election. The GOP is already down and out in the polls and it's likely the Republican Governor of Idaho would prefer to give Craig's replacement advance time.

Cecil Andrus and Frank Church in Idaho's past notwithstanding, the current Idaho looks still pretty red to me. But maybe the longer Craig remains a Senator and blocks his replacement's run-up to 08, the better chance Dems have of competing for that seat.

When it comes to filibuster-proof Senate majorities, size matters.

(Yes -- the induction into Idaho's Hall of Fame is real: http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2007/10/07/sen_craig_to_join_idaho_hall_of_fame/?rss_id=Boston.com+%2F+News )

3. Toned down considerably for family audiences, but the point goes farther
to Craig's difficulties with his own party -- I should say his own party's difficulties with him.

I never liked Craig because of his voting record. I frankly don't care what he does when he's not in the Senate.

I do think the Republican party is frantically and idiotically bigoted when it comes to the LBBTQ community and related issues.

7. Well, they'll have to make some changes to the architectural plans, I guess.
Alert the Advisory Board. Restroom partitions must extend to within 3" of the floor.

10. Hi, wlucinda. I had read the headline and thought, Who would put Craig in
the spotlight after this past summer's story, and then I realized it was for real.

It sounds to me as if maybe the Idaho Hall of Fame Advisory Board's PR chief is out to lunch.

CNN blipped earlier that this was decided before the toe-tapping hit the airwaves.

12. Yes. I had read the same thing -- that the Idaho Board made their
decision early, but your instinct for management is clearly stronger than their -- they surprised me by sticking with him.

This is an odd world.

grab hold of on the way down the spiral.

Phil Spector's murder trial. Russia implicated in mysterious international poisonings. Larry Craig hunting for sex in airport restrooms. Mitt Romney tying his dog in a cage and blasting down the highway with the cage atop the car. Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a fag. George Allen and Rick Santorum losing Senate seats. Poet Nikki Giovanni rousing Virginia Tech students to solidarity out of their grief over the slaughter there. Fidel Castro dead, or not dead, or whatever he is. Ted Nugent still loose. Katie Couric in Baghdad. Anne Rice abandoning vampires for Jesus.

Yeeesh.
