Bush's 'sour-faced cynic-imitation' of critics of his Iran attack plan
Bush Puzzled by Doubters

By Dan Froomkin

President Bush yesterday sounded perplexed that anyone would think he is preparing to attack Iran -- going so far as to make a sour face and lower his voice in a mocking imitation of his critics.

"I guess my reaction to all the noise about, you know, 'He wants to go to war' is, first of all, I don't understand the tactics, and I guess I would say it's political," Bush told C-SPAN's Steve Scully yesterday.

"On the other hand, I hope that the members of Congress, particularly in the opposition party, understand the grave danger of Iran having a nuclear weapon. Therefore, we all need to work together to solve the problem."

Here's the text (http://www.c-span.org/executive/gwbushinterview.asp) and video (http://tinyurl.com/233hpm) of the interview. Thinkprogress has a video clip of Bush's sour-faced cynic-imitation: http://thinkprogress.org/2007/02/12/bush-impersonates-his-iran-critics/

So where is all that "noise" coming from? Why might anyone be doubting Bush's stated intentions?

Well, it could be that when it comes to the Middle East, the war in Iraq has so damaged Bush's credibility that even some of his natural allies don't believe what he has to say anymore -- even his pro forma denials of hostile intentions toward Iran.

And then there's the fact that those sour-faced, unhappy-sounding critics Bush was mocking have, time and again, been proved right.

1. I hope the members of Congress,
particularly in the republic party, understand the grave danger of this idiot remaining in the White House. Therefore, we all need to work together to solve the problem.

2. Stephanie Miller was talking about this interview today and pointed out
that Shrub got all giggly at one point during it. As Steph pointed out, when Bush gets like that, it usually means he's thinking about someone else dying.

4. Cheney will inform Our Leader when Our Leader needs to know.
It's pretty clear that Our Leader, devoid of curiosity and reasonsing skills, didn't read the news about "The Year Of Iran," as John Hannah calls it. Hannah is deluded if he thinks Our Leader would get the word merely because it was in the newspaper.

5. So now we're the "Opposition Party"?? That's as bad as (or worse than)
calling us the "Democrat Party." What a dunce. I don't think going around making ridiculous faces is going to do anything for his shredded credibility, especially when it will only take some wag a minute or two to find a picture of a chimpanzee making the same face.

7. His reactions have to be over the top...

...because Junior is lying his ass off.

The neocon thugs spend most of their time plotting how they'll
bomb Iran and the lies that they will market to the public.

This is all ready a done deal. Junior knows it. Cheney
knows it. Condi knows it. And so do the rest of the
evil jerks.

However, they have to create an illusion for the American public.
They have to orchestrate a series of "OH my gosh, Iran is causing
trouble in Iraq!!!" stagings. The run-up has to ramp up a bit
before Junior can talk seriously about the bombing that he
knows will happen. For now, he's selling America a fabricated
run up.

Sometimes, the disparity between Junior's real-world, behind-closed-doors
warmongering--and his public persona--causes his brain to implode.

So, when he gets questions about bombing Iran--something that
he knows will happen when HE DECIDES--his reaction has to be
over the top---because the lies and the glaring deception is
so enormous. Junior has to stuff down so many lies and create
a facade to present to this country--and I think this leaves
him a bit snotty.

Today he chose the "I'll-feign-indignation-when-they-bring-up-the-
truth" tactic.

8. Please note...Whenever he says something like
"We're not going to attack" or "We have no plans to attack" he ALWAYS negates his first statement with a follow-up like, "on the other hand" or "but". Check it out. I've been paying attention to this for some time.

Maybe Molly Ivins was right. Bush isn't really stupid. He's bright in a FERAL sort of way.

Psychopath... :evilfrown:

9. What's left to do?
When Bush says something, you can be sure that the exact opposite is true. If someone of his says there are no plans to attack Iran, you can be certain that preparations have now reached the irreversable stage. If Bush says that Iran needs to do X or be attacked, you can be certain war is already underway.

Really, what can be done to stop this maniac? He's already made it clear that he will simply ignore resolutions; if pressed, he will almost certainly simply ignore Congress; if impeached, he may well go the military option that Nixon backed away from. How the hell can the world be rid of this murderous monster?

13. Notice he is just saying he doesn't "understand the tactics", NOT that he's
not planning war.
