2. can't give you a heart, but can send a (((((hug)))). sorry to hear about the breakup, and the fact
that you will be missing out on the chocolates--that is indeed a terrible thing.

I know it isn't the same, but this site always makes me feel better:

3. Sorry to hear that, but
what is a RW DBF?

Right Wing ____ Boy Friend?

or am I way off base.

If I had an extra heart to give out, I'd give it to you, though.

21. I got tired of him not holding up his end of the relationship and
me having to do all the work, thinking up things to do and trying to get him to do anything other than watch sports on TV. He got lazy and quit putting anything into it. And he was getting really downright contemptuous of my political views, which I never pushed onto him.

4. Eventually you realize you can buy your own damn candy
and you have a choice in whom you want to put up with in your life.

16. The sooner we all realize that as women, the better.
Thank you for pointing it out. And it's nothing against men. It's against women who feel that only a man can give her some material object she wants. I'm not talking about this OP, necessarily, because I don't think it was meant to be all that serious. But the OP offered the opportunity to discuss the larger point about empowering ourselves.

22. I can buy my own candy. That's not the point. He knew I LOVED
a particular little shop's handmade dark chocolates and he always got me some for Valentine's Day/our anniversary/my birthday (which all fell within 2 weeks).

26. I know that wasn't your point.
I was just taking the opportunity to further the point that Warpy brought up.

I didn't mean it about you personally at all. I tried to word it in my post so that it wouldn't sound like I was talking about you, but I don't think I did that very well.

6. Treat yourself to a box of chocolates.
After all, you ARE special, and you should take care of yourself, too. If you want chocolates, get some. In the long run, you're better off without the RWer. Find yourself a nice Dem, and that's easier to do when you aren't otherwise committed.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!

17. I know, I know. It sucks, though. I wasted 5 1/2 yrs with someone
who just kept leaning farther and farther right. He became a real Rush devotee, for some warped reason.

True that now I can keep my eye out for a dedicated environmentalist and loyal Dem.

27. You are a better person for your experience with the RWer.
Obviously you have high standards and will appreciate someone who shares those values with you. Time spent with another is never a waste, consider it a learning experience, if only it reinforced the values you already had.

Treat yourself for Valentine's, and feel good about the knowledge that you are a better person and have grown because of the time you spent with your Ex.

12. Valentine's Day is just another faux holiday to support consumerism!
Free yourself from the chains of bondage! .... (and go buy yourself a box).

Sorry, no hearts to give. All I have is my charity heart from the mods.

BTW - what does DBF stand for? We are all anxiously awaiting the answer!

19. Love is a decision...
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 02:00 PM by TwoSparkles
..so decide that you've had it with screw-up boyfriends and
that you're going to love and take care of yourself!

Here's an awesome recipe for mocha-chocolate truffles. Easy to make, but the
rolling and dipping is time consuming--so you'll have less time to mull over
an insensitive boyfriend from the past--and more time for chocolate.

Make some for yourself, and give the extras to friends, family and maybe visit
a nursing home. Hell, hand them out to gas-station attendants and crossing guards.
Spread the love!

You'll feel better, seriously.

Mocha Chocolate truffles

--Melt 1 pkg of dark chocolate chips (I use Ghiradelli) in the microwave (melt
for 30 seconds at time, then stir--repeat until chocolate is melted).
Mix melted chips with 8 oz of softened cream cheese. Add 2 tsp of water
and 3 T of instant coffee granules. Mix until smooth. Refrigerate for
30 minutes. Shape into one-inch balls.

Melt 1lb of chocolate confectionery coating in microwave (melt for 30 seconds,
at a time, then stir--until coating is melted).

Place truffle balls on a fork and dip into coating. Allow coating to run off. Place
on waxed paper. Let dry.

Melt 1 bar of white chocolate in microwave (30 second increments). Drizzle
on top of chocolate-coated truffles--using a fork.

---Have fun! ...and no more bad-boys!

that whether it be a wonderful new partner, a box of hand-made chocolates, or something even more wonderful... you will soon find your heart's desire?
