Poll question: Who do you NOT want to get the nomination?
I'm going to post a poll asking you to vote for the person you LEAST desire to get the Democratic nomination for POTUS. The winner (who will actually be the loser) will be dropped from the list, and I'll post another poll with that candidate's name removed. I will repeat the process, until, by elimination, one candidate is "chosen" by those participating.

Remember vote for the one you DON'T want to get the nomination. I'd appreciate if you will keep this kicked. I'm doing an experiment. The candidates are presented in alphabetical order.

Who do you want to eliminate from the race?

1. That's an interesting split
Obvious I guess. I don't think Kucinich will be number one for long.

2. I find it interesting, too.
I'll have to do some studying as to why. We'll see.

3. I'm surprised to see Kucinich with so much "support" on this poll,

though the Clinton-hate is of course expected. The vicious animosity between the moderates and the leftists here is strong, but I didn't think it was mutual.

14. I chose him not because he's a leftist
But because he can't get elected. Hell, I'M a leftist, mostly.

16. But is that why YOU don't WANT him to get the nomination
this is an experiment. The OP asked who would you NOT like to see get the nomination, not who do you think CAN'T get the nomination.

19. I voted for DK for similar reasons.
Not because he can't get the nomination, but because he can't win the general, and so I'd rather him not get the nomination.

22. Well you are certainly entitled to your opinion
My opinion is the same, but reverse the candidates. I don't think Hillary will win the GE, so I don't want her to get the nomination. R&B, you know how I feel if she does.

20. That is exactly why I don't want him to get the nomination.
Because if he's the nom, we lose the White House. AGAIN.

7. I suspect they'll be #1 and #2 to be dropped from the poll
(in either order) and Gravel may be #3. Unless people just consider him inconsequential.

Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 10:30 AM by Rhythm and Blue
He's my clear #1 "please leave." Kucinich is actually my #2, but I voted for him because he's got a chance to 'win' it, and I don't want to throw away my vote.

Irony?

This is not so bad or surprising.

10. The weird thing is
That while Kucinich is quite probably the genuine most left leaning candidate in this race, Hillary is not the rightmost. That would be Richardson. Hillary wouldn't even be second by any objective measure and might not even be third. Clearly there is more than pure policy disagreement driving the anathema from the left towards Hillary - or they'd all be trying to top Bill R.

21. No, I'm not.
If Kucinich is the nominee, we lose the White House. To me, even having a candidate I don't love who can WIN is better than having a candidate who has NO CHANCE of winning.

25. You get the same response every time you ask - active Democrats do not want Hillary.
Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 10:46 AM by ThomWV
I have asked the poll question every way I could think of that was not prejudicial to any of them and every time Hillary comes up the loser. How the MSM finds her to be in the lead is way past anything I can understand other than that they are pushing her becuause it requires little effort or expenditure of money on their part. People know her name so they need say no more, with the other would be candidates it requires that they invistigate positions and explain something, not at all needed (they think) or presented with Hillary - they just show her picture, people know who she is, so they think they have done their job.

29. I realize that - but it would be hard to say that it represents the brain-dead faction of the party
These are the people who care, the ones who vote in Primarys, the ones who do not like Hillary.

30. I could see the primary results being very different from the current polls
because of that reason. However, Lieberman got 1/3 the Dem vote in CT. Nixon beat McGovern by 20%. Mondale was about 3000 votes away from losing 50 states to Reagan. People vote against their best interests all the time.

32. I suspect more thought goes into a Primary vote than a General Election vote
At least for a committed Democrat like myself it seems to me that with the General Election there isn't much thought. Democrats vote for Democrats, its that simple. I may not care for the one that is running in a particular race and may not cast a ballot in that race, but as a Democrats I do not vote for Republicans.

In the primarys its different. I know I'll be voting for a member of my party but what now I have to do is think about which one is best. I'm not one of the great swamp of brain dead that votes based on name recognition, in the Primarys I have a reason for rejecting some and chosing one. For instance, I have written 3 would be candidates off my Primary list already and each one of them got tossed off my list for a specific reason - I gave it thought. I think a lot of Primary voters are like I am in this respect.
