Help elect Niki Tsongas in MA-05 special election - 10/16/07
Ted Kennedy is asking us to help send Niki Tsongas to Washington. Don't let the GOP steal this seat. They are pouring lots of money and TV ad buys into the race. The rethugs think they can steal this seat because it's a special election, and those usually have a very low voter turnout. And even though this is the blue state of Massachusetts, this particular district has some big red streaks running through it. Driving around, I see a lot of signs on lawns for her rethug opponent. (I live in this district) We can't take this race for granted. So if you can spare a few bucks, this would be a good race to spend it on.

Here's today's email from Teddy:

Dear xxxxxxx,

You can always tell that you're doing something right when the attacks from your opponent get more and more desperate.

In the election coming up on October 16th, my good friend Niki Tsongas will seek to carry on the proud Democratic tradition in the Merrimack Valley. She hopes to take her passion on education, health care, and ending the war in Iraq to the halls of Congress in Washington. With so much at stake for Massachusetts and for America, I'm asking you to stand with me in supporting Niki and her campaign.

After more than 40 years in politics, I know how dangerous Republicans can be when power is taken from them -- just as it was in our Democratic victories in 2006. The GOP attack machine is working overtime to defeat Niki, and she needs our help now to make sure that her positive message can overcome each and every Republican attack.

Please contribute $50, $100, $250 or more to help Niki fight back against Republican attacks and get her message out.

Republicans are working hard to defeat Niki because she has spent her life fighting for the very changes they are trying so hard to obstruct. Niki is an experienced educator, a leader in local business in Lowell, and a passionate and determined advocate to end George Bush's failed war in Iraq.

To try and defeat Niki, the GOP has recruited a candidate named Jim Ogonowski whom they're trying to pass off as a person who will not tow their party line. Don't be fooled! Jim Ogonowski attended the special GOP candidate training program, and he is using every available Republican talking point in his attacks against Niki. He has also even pledged to sustain President Bush's appalling veto of our children's health care bill. Republicans are obviously hoping that voters in Massachusetts are too busy to notice such a reactionary candidate.

To prevail in her campaign, Niki needs the power to speak directly to the voters in the expensive media market. That's where we can help her the most in this final week of her important campaign.

Niki has produced a compelling and very effective ad to respond to these Republican attacks. She's using the most effective campaign weapon there is -- the truth. She speaks the truth about her opponent's plan to continue President Bush's failed war in Iraq, and about her own plan to end it, and she needs our help to put it on the air.

Please contribute 50, $100, $250 or more to enable Niki Tsongas to speak the truth to voters in Massachusetts about her strong commitment to end the failed war in Iraq.

With George Bush and his Republican allies in Congress bent on slashing health insurance for millions of children and continuing the failed war in Iraq, the last person they want to see in Washington is Niki Tsongas. Please join her campaign today! Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

Senator Edward M. Kennedy
