I was just wondering if you had your druthers; who would you like to see in the White House?

12. I said Feingold (see post below) ...
... but Cuomo would be my second choice. A great man, able to communicate complex ideas in down-to-earth language.

A Feingold/Cuomo ticket? THAT would be nirvana!

7. Russ Feingold
Intelligent, well-educated, articulate, a statesman-like demeanor that is at the same time down-to-earth, able to think on his feet, listens to questions carefully and doesn't rely on talking points to respond ...

I could go on, but I won't.

17. The best ticket: Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert.
Colbert had the courage to tell off the White House press corps and Bush. To their faces. Nobody in the Democratic Party has the courage to do that.

But because he's duplicitous, he can only be on the bottom half of the ticket (like Richard Nixon during Eisenhower's term). He's duplicitous because he has clearly announced that the character he plays on TV, "Stephen Colbert," is clearly a wrong-headed idiot. This means he's sneaky, and best suited to make kick-ass speeches against the right wing, something too dishonorable for a President to do openly.

The head of the ticket has to be Jon Stewart. He ended Crossfire and told the right-winger and the wimpy would-be liberal "I won't be a monkey for you." That's courage.

Stewart has to be the head of the ticket for another reason; he's a Jew. That will send a message to James "Bob" Dobson and the other American Taliban members to get the hell out of politics and stick to potluck suppers.

Once they're elected, I expect to see great things from their cabinet as well; Chris Rock as head of HEW, and Bill Maher as the Secretary of Defense. (Read his book When You Ride Alone, You Ride with bin Laden to see why he fits that particular slot.)

35. I like this question.
Edited on Wed Oct-10-07 09:05 AM by Old Crusoe
As others have said upthread, Mario Cuomo, a man I feel is the titan of U.S. public service.

I'd include also former NJ Senator Bill Bradley and current MA Senator John Kerry.

And would be pleased with Ramsey Clark, Al Gore, Barbara Boxer, Bill Moyers, and Gary Hart, Birch Bayh.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be a deck-clearer as well.

Among the up-and-comers might be Chris Van Hollen and Ted Strickland, and possibly Gov. Sebelius of Kansas and Brian Schweitzer of Montana.

But I am really retiscent about that in a way because he may well have been taken from us then as well. A truly brilliant young man taken from us all too early in life.

Politics is a dirty business.
