Tony Snow to WH reporter: "Ed, calm down. I know you're excited, your voice is rising..."

http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/02/20070213-3.html

<snip>

Q So is he not in the loop? I'm just trying to understand why there's a contradiction, where the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs --

MR. SNOW: I'll tell you what -- I just know that there's -- Ed, calm down. I know you're excited, your voice is rising, your pace is increasing --

Q I don't need to calm down. I'm telling you that he is saying this; I'm not.

...

MR. SNOW: No, because you've got -- you have explosively formed penetrators. He says they exist, correct?

Q I didn't see that in this particular quote, but --

MR. SNOW: Well, no -- he said that there are weapons --

Q He says that there are projectiles manufactured in Iraq.

MR. SNOW: Okay, all right. So, okay, so there's no doubt about that, correct? There are Iranians in Iraq. There's no question about that, correct?

7. I think I saw Ed on with CNN.
The problem is Tony McSnowjob couldn't lie fast enough, but insists Pace is on board with what the Admin is saying about Iranian weapons, saying that the people bringing them in from Iran are working for the Iranian govt. I don't remember what the group is called or how they really fit in, but I certainly don't trust Snowjob.

23. That's it!
And since the American military leadership in Baghdad said it was Iranian govt, it must be true!

I guess if the guy down the street that owns an illegal weapon goes to Mexico and commits a crime with that weapon, it must be per George Dumbya's order!

2. Damn, I've misjudged the whole situation
I see. There are Iraqis in Iraq and Iranians in Iran and both countries have weapons. So, that must mean that the Iranians are arming the Iraqis. I feel so horrible for doubting Our President.

12. I listened for about 20 seconds before the cognitive dissonance hit.
He sounds like that character in "Network" -- is that the right movie? That "I'm mad as hell " character?

I can't believe this raving loon is the WHITE HOUSE SPOKEMAN.

Don't know whether to  or to

17. Nah, Howard Beale made more sense
I actually think he had some good points. Snowjob knows that he is full of shit when Howard Beale actually believed it.

Now I have to watch Network tonight. I was thinking of it recently (because of how prophetic it is) and this clinches it! :hi:

4. And according to our Administration, there are also terrorists that we trained in Afghanistan
(Al Quaeda) in Iraq. We taught them how to bring down helicopters. We taught them how to assault armored vehicles.
We better put ourselves on notice!

8. Actually, there's EVERY doubt of that.
I've seen their pictures of the EFPs; they don't look like
they were made in ANY sort of actual factory. And there's
sure as hell NOTHING about them that proves they came from
Iran.

Tony Snow is, as usual, completely full of shit.

9. The Bush Doctrine
Pile up an enormous stack of nonsense, bullshit, and innuendo. Doesn't matter if any of it's connected to anything else, it can be stove-piped in later. Now, throw the whole gargantuan mess at the wall and see what sticks; that is, what do people notice? Did they notice, in this example, that you mentioned explosively formed penetrators? Okay, the reporter is a step ahead, and notices that that particular quote isn't there. Back up a step. Maybe it wasn't explosively formed penetrators; how about weapons? You have to admit there are weapons in Iraq, right? Well, yeah, of course. Okay, see? If there are weapons in Iraq, and it can not be definitively disproved that every weapon in Iraq did not come from Iran, then there's a possibility that there are Iranian weapons in Iraq. No doubt about that, correct? Therefore, we must go to war with Iran, Q.E.D.

11. There should be penalities for this kind of behavior
While Snow does a good job of avoiding the title of "outright liar" his equivocations and word parsing are, in my opinion, a crime.

To intentionally lead the American people AWAY from the truth from that podium is borderline treason, and should be dealt with accordingly. I do not think Snow should be given a traitor's sentence, but I think the fact that he and the administration care very little for what truthful information is given to the public is pretty damn close.
