Poll question: How many pot smokers do we have here?
Edited on Wed Oct-10-07 07:25 PM by Flabbergasted
Of course I tried years ago but never inhaled. I wonder if Hillary hit the pipe in College. We all know Obama was a toker.

I'm guessing Kucinich still smokes. Just a guess.

20. Yep... if it were legal...
I'd trade in my bottle of wine for a baggie of herb in a not New York second!

If I ever become ill, Goddess forbid, I'd do it anyway. I've known too many wonderful people who were helped by it in their end times.

119. Same here --
I would absolutely smoke if it were legal. Not every day, but probably as an exchange for drinking. Smoking was always more fun and more relaxing anyway.

Maybe it'll happen in my lifetime - I'll be the old granny on the front porch in a rocking chair smoking a j.

28. Years ago I took a drive with a friend to see Moody Blues in the Gorge at George, Washington
Beautiful Theater in a valley in the middle of nowhere.

The tickets were free. We underestimated the time it would take, to make the trip, and ended up there as the last song was being played.

Tis a shame.

on my 40th birthday...immediately lost an hour, was found rocking in my rocking chair, didn't remember a thing(and didn't care for the feeling that I could have done almost anything, including murder, and wouldn't have known)...and had a sore throat for a week...that was the end of that experience...can't understand it's fascination..and want nothing to do with it...know so many who do it regularly...and from what I've seen, it messes up their lives...but hey...to each their own...and pot ain't my own, in any way, shape or form...everyone else can go for it...I will volunteer to abstain...wb

136. That's the way I look at it.
I can't stand the smell, and it seems that pot smokers can be very self centered sometimes. I've been to several concerts that are well attended. Adults, children, etc. But some dirtbags think they have to get high because it's what you do at the show.

So I swing between let people do what they want... and then I go to a concert and come out smelling terrible, and want it all gathered up and fired into space.

34. I've been known to.........
not often, because it's not my thing. I have smoked up once or twice with an AIDS positive friend; he wanted company, and I've not been averse. *shrug* It's less harmful, mostly, than alcohol, and that's legal. I'm for legalizing the stuff, in the same way I'm for legalizing things like prostitution. It's just not damaging enough to make it worth billions to police it, and it criminalizes people who would otherwise be able to be useful members of society.

125. A coworker's son has a brain tumor
She recently brought him to a psychic healer (for lack of a better term). While evaluating him, the healer seemed perplexed and asked if he did any drugs. He admitted to regular marijuana use and she stated, to her own astonishment, that it probably saved his life and the tumor was shrinking. He will soon be having an MRI, so we'll see if that diagnosis is corroborated; his mother is very hopeful.

So a potentially life saving plant is illegal while toxic GMOs run rampant. What a world.

Have you ever had cotton mouth so bad that as you were furiously stuffing Fritos

It happened to me. I've never laughed so hard.

It was nice to grow up before Nancy's "Just Say No!" campaign kicked in.

It is illegal....If everyone would just be good little Americans and obey their government, everything would be fine, wouldn't it now?And if everyone had been willing to blindly obey their government, alcohol would be illegal as well. There goes that glass of wine with a good meal,or that beer and chips with the football game...or even the sacramental wine.

I'm hoping you were just being sarcastic.I'd like to believe, that in this day and age, there are still people who support the right to do as you please,so long as it hurts no one....

84. OTHER: I have migraines
My upper left quadrant (shoulder, neck, muscles under scapula, jaw) go into spasm. It is not fun. If I can get the muscles to relax, the head pain is ...bearable.

Now, *hypothetically* MJ is a muscle relaxant when used topically. This can be done in a tincture form, which maintains both the water soluble and fat soluble properties of the herb in question.

This is applied to the skin and is absorbed by the body with *hypothetically* amazing results.

If one were to use too much it would cause (some might say) adverse effects.

I don't care for adverse effects, never have. So I when I use medicine or medicinal herbs I only use the amount that is efficacious for the problem in question.

The 2nd time I used some muscle relaxing herbs topically I thought I would try more because nothing untoward happened the first time. Ummm...no. I was not pleased with the results. Nothing bad, just "dopey". Not my idea of a good time, headache or no.

Brewer and Shipley perform One Toke Over the Line in Kansas City (April 2007)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbbqIHHMVxA

They were great in concert. Brewer is very tall and lanky. I think Shipley teaches video technology at MU and Brewer is an Ozark resident. Shipley's son Mark, performed a few songs he wrote. If you click on the "see other videos from this user" link, there is a video of them performing Platte River the same night at the UU Church, a Frank Lloyd Wright building. (caution advised-it might be a buzzkill to watch my other videos).

142. I wonder if Yoda Keebler is still going to East Coast science fiction conventions
He made the rounds in the early 80s with the most fabulous chocolate chip cookies. He'd offer them to those in the know, and periodically collect a few twenties from participants for the most essential fat-soluble ingredient. We filked about it--

Some folks like coke,
And others to choke
Down a capsule filled up with some speed
But to go with the flow
There's just one thing to blow
And that's good old cannabis holy weed!

Chorus:
Oh, they call it that good old holy weed
'Cause it satisfies every need
There ain't nothin' wrong
When I fill up my bong
With that good old cannabis holy weed!

My brother Zeigfield
Has a field that can yield
Eighty bushels of anything in seed
He ain't got much to eat
But he don't waste land on wheat
He just plants every inch in holy weed.

My cousin Cy
Gets so stoned he can fly
His mind's turning over full speed
He ain't feeling no pain
On that tenth astral plane
Soaring high on that good old holy weed

Oh, when you have gone
For to visit a con
And you find you've come down with the need
Before you get feebler
Just ask Yoda Keebler
For some cookies with baked-in holy weed.

At the very least for medicinal uses. I have known two people who have used it medicinally, and while I didn't find out about one of them until years later, the other I saw firsthand. He was literally teetering on the brink. He was fighting cancer, and he was losing weight and his health was going. I would have given him 6 months to live at the most. Then all of a sudden it turned around. He put on some weight. His pain and nausea was managable. He had an appetite again and he was able to keep food down. He lived for another two years because of medicinal marijuana. That's two years he was able to spend with his daughter that he wouldn't have had otherwise.

As far as non-medicinal uses, just don't get behind the wheel and I won't have any reason to tell you not to. I've seen what it does to people. It makes them laid-back, sometimes a little lazy, gives them the munchies, and makes them willing to wax philisophical at the drop of a hat. I've never smoked before and never will because I have all of these qualities in far more abundance than I'd like, and I don't need chemical enhancement in those areas. :)

143. That free Mexican air force--
http://www.themadmusicarchive.com/song_details.aspx?SongID=11905

In the Morenos Mountains campesinos are planting their fields
While the ghost of Zapata rides a horse that can still outrun the wheel
There, free in the sky high above, nearly clear out of sight
It's the Free Mexican Air Force flyin' tonight

In the City of Angels, a cowboy is cooling his heels
Remembering that God gave us herbs and the fruits of the fields
But a criminal law that makes outlaws of those seeking light
Made the Free Mexican Air Force -- Mescalito riding his white horse --
Yeah, the Free Mexican Air Force is flyin' tonight!
Flying so high - yi - hiyeeeee! ...

How strange that an innocent herb causes money to burn
They'll jail you or kill you for making those rich fat cats squirm
They're the fools who make rules with no difference between wrong or right
That's why the Free Mexican Air Force is flyin' tonight

Uncle Sam in his misery put a nix on the fields of Guerrero
Sayin', "Shoot down all gringos and wetbacks who dare wear sombreros!"
Either run for your life, surrender, or stand up and fight --
Or join the Free Mexican Air Force -- Mescalito riding his white horse --
Yeah, the Free Mexican Air Force is flying tonight!
Flying so high - yi - hiyeeeee! ...

(instrumental bridge)

It is not marijuana destroying the minds of the young
But confusion continued for power and greed in all forms
Well, the borders of evil will fall to the smugglers of light!
We're the Free Mexican Air Force and we're flyin' tonight!

In San Antonio, they tell me that power and money are one
They can buy us or sell you to keep you afraid, on the run
But no one can stop us! My vision is clearly in sight!
And the Free Mexican Air Force -- Mescalito riding his white horse --
Yeah, the Free Mexican Air Force is flyin' tonight!
Flying so high - yi - hiyeeeee! ...

Some were smoking colitas while other were loading their guns
Blowing smoke from their six-shooters, spinning their barrels for fun
Contrabandistas, banditos alike --
We're the Free Mexican Air Force and we're flyin' tonight!

High in the hills we are harvesting sweet sensimillia
Yeah, the law wants it all 'cause they know that the wild weed can free ya
And freedom for us is a prison for the rulers of might!
That's why the Free Mexican Air Force -- Mescalito riding his white horse --
Yeah, the Free Texican Air Force is flyin' tonight!
Flyin' so high- yi- yee...
Flyin' tonight!

actually, I don't nearly as much as I used to, but still do regularly enough when I remember to do it.

On the bright side, it lasts me forever now and I am a lightweight too. Woo!

109. Once upon a time...
but not anymore. I enjoyed the buzz, but overall it just made me lazy and unproductive.

112. You're getting the wrong stuff

and it's not your fault. The reason you feel lazy is because of the Indica influence. It's not like the Mexi--Maui Waui or Colombian we used to get in the 60s-70's.Most MJ now is a hybrid of Sativa/Indica.The Indica influence is what most pain patients want, and can be very effective.Indica also tends to bulk up the yield when hybridized with Sativa (which produces a more heady effect).Sativa grown indoors can take up to 16 weeks of flowering (or more) and does not yield well, hybridizing with an Indica drops the flower period to as little as 7 weeks, and bulks up the yield. That is why you might feel a little sedate when using modern MJ.

130. I like a good hybrid higher on the Indica side.
Indica gives me the most pleasant sensations and euphoria while the more Sativa strains always allow me to smoke too much and get trapped in my brain. Woah. . .

110. I used to smoke regularly (back in HS and college)
But, I'm in the military now and had to put the stop to it. I'm looking forward to retirement when I am going to return to that lovely herb.

118. I Lived In Holland From 1999-2005
Walked out my door, around the corner, and visited the neighborhood coffee shop. Rolled one, walked out, lit up, and felt happy by the time I got to my front door.

I've yet to hear or see any ill effects of legalization in that country.

God, I'm sick of this "America is the free-est country in the world" bullshit.

Left me all alone
The finance company came by today
And repossessed my home
But that's just a drop in the bucket girl
Compared to losin you

And I'm down to seeds and stems again too

135. BTW, Kucinich is your basic altar boy, even after all these years
He is absolutely in favor of other people smoking marijuana, gay marriage and a bunch of other stuff like that, but he doesn't do it himself. He doesn't use any of the common four letter words either.
