Diehard Hillary supporters: what is it that makes you a diehard?
What is it about her that grabbed you by the gut.

1. "Diehard." Wrong word for Hillary supporters.
She's going to win the nomination and then the General Election. It would be more natural to talk about "diehard" Kucinich, or even Edwards or Obama supporters, cowering in metaphorical bunkers in 4 or 5 months or so, or to speak to "diehard" Giuliani or Thompson et al supporters who will go through meltdown next November when She wins. The real diehards might even claim that Hillary somehow stole the election. There might be threads on sites in other reaches of this electronic universe where "diehard" Giuliani people declare to each other that they BELIEVE that Giuliani will take the oath of office on January 20th, even though Hillary won all the Blue states from last time plus Ohio, Arkansas, etc. etc. etc.

I am a proud Hillary supporter, a staunch Hillary supporter, a hard-core Hillary supporter, but never call us "diehards" - that's everyone else! :toast:

2. Arighty - so what makes you a proud, staunch, hard-core Hillary person
What is it about her that inspires you?

3. Well, I just wanted to take exception to that "diehard" term - but since you asked -
Simply that she will make a very good president. And that she will be a Democrat who will make sure we win this time. Her hard work, her intelligence, her self-control, so many things. And the fact that she really is a life-long learner: she's always been a bright person and an acheiver, but you can see clearly in her life that she's one of the few of us who actually learn, change and grow as we go through life. That's exceptionally rare. I know I don't have that. I think she will be the perfect antidote to Dubya.

4. "Hillary won all the Blue states from last time plus Ohio, Arkansas"
Come again?

I think Clinton has the easiest path to general election victory out of all the candidates, (D) and (R). She will win the Gore 2000 states, and she will also win the suddenly-blue-and-getting-bluer state of New Hampshire...and that's all she needs. Had Gore won NH in 2000 (he lost by slightly more than 3,000 votes), Florida would have been a footnote. She doesn't need to win Ohio (and probably won't) or Arkansas.

But wtf does "Hillary won all the Blue states from last time plus Ohio, Arkansas" mean? Last time?

5. She's peering into the future, and saying a diehard Guilani fan would say
that he won, even if Hillary had won all the blue states plus Ohio and Arkansas.

8. Not in this thread anyway
A chance for a bit of positivity and I get nuthin'.

Maybe I should have started the thread with the headline "FUCK HILLARY" then continued with "Now that I have your attention, what is it that you like about her" Seems to be the only way to motivate your average Clinton person.

in gd-p.

I didn't get anything of substance over there either.

15. Isn't a "diehard" someone who foolishly clings to a lost cause?
I think of the remaining Bush supporters as "diehards", for example. But Hillary's poll numbers are up every day. How does joining the increasing support for her make one a "diehard"? Hey, it's bad enough that right-wingers keep changing the meanings of words. Let's not us do it too!

die-hard
–noun
1. a person who vigorously maintains or defends a seemingly hopeless position, outdated attitude, lost cause, or the like.

To answer your actual question, I have been impressed with her poise and maturity in the debates. She gives evidence of having thought at length about the things she says, unlike our present Idiot-In-Chief. I find that others besides myself are warming up to her as time goes on (did you see the recent Boston Globe article on this?).

By the way, unlike bush, Chertoff, and apparently you, I think with my brain, not my gut. But thanks for the insult anyway.
