To those who denigrate Gore supporters as "Savior seekers"
I don't want a Savior, I want the person best suited for the job. I want:

a candidate with experience in the jungles of D.C.
a candidate with proven intelligence, integrity, and vision
a candidate who "does" instead of "says"
a candidate who is brave enough to call a spade a spade, even when he risks "political suicide"
a candidate whose extramarital love affairs have been with the Earth and the American Constitution

I'm sure there's more reasons we can all add, but I can't think of any employer out there who has sought the best employee for a job being accused of Savior seeking.

3. Every single candidate has saviour seekers
You can see it in the Messianic fervor of their posts on this board and others.

Gore will have to convince me he's learned from 2000 if he decides to run. He'll have to convince me that business as usual isn't good enough any more and that he's discovered that playing to a fictional conservative middle is a losing strategy. He needs to play to the real middle.

I'll vote for whoever the Democratic candidate is in 2008 from the current crop or if Gore gets the nod. However, if he wants my vote in the primary, he's going to have to earn it.

6. Fair enough.
But I will add I've not seen anywhere near the fervor for other candidates that I've seen here and elsewhere for Gore. I for one would be thrilled to vote for a candidate that wasn't just o.k., but someone I firmly believe could do a superlative job.

8. Speaking of which, have you seen this?

James Boyce

Al: I Forgive You For Missing Previous Deadlines. I Understand You've Been Busy.

First, the Draft Gore movement is real. It's probably the first real draft movement in modern, post-Internet political history. These people really want you to run. They like other Democrats, they'll support other Democrats, but they want you, really. (As do a lot of Republicans fyi.)

This morning, over at DailyKos, of top 8 Recommended Diaries, four are about you and you're running. From what I gather, you picked your 'favorite suit' at the dry cleaners and in doing so have sent your progressive base into a Beatle-esque hysteria.

Second, we share a healthy suspicion and at least on my part, considerable disregard for the corporate media here in the United States. I saw Diane Sawyer too - I can't believe it either. However, there is a secondary media market out there, there is this remarkable progressive community online, they are your people.

For example, did you know the average age for a reader of a Progressive Blog / Web Site is 46 years old? College and Post Graduate educated, involved, passionate and right now, frankly without a candidate.

15. feel free to start a thread with it.
I just found it and thought it was pretty good. I saw Boyce on MSNBC this morning and so I wasn't surprised when I found this entry of his on HuffPo.

13. That's a great editorial, and I fit the profile for a reader of a progressive blog
Especially since I'd rather be an "average age of 46" than fifty-something. :D

Seriously tho, I do hope he's ready to make that Shermanesque statement sometime soon -- hopefully it will be: "I am running."

5. I want a candidate who wont jump off a bridge just because the others do...
I'd much rather have a candidate who waits for the appropriate time in which to join the race, unlike the herd we have now who started this whole campaign waaaaaaaaay too early.
