Has MSM Missed the Turkey/Iran/Syria Alliance v. Kurds? Role of Russia and China? Regional War?
IMHO our troops on the ground in Iraq have never been in more jeopardy than they presently face.

And why is there almost no substantial reporting by the MSM in the US on this? Is there some kind of news 'blackout'?

If Turkey crosses the border into Iraq and begins slaughtering the Kurds the US is going to have a real dilemma on its hands -- stand by and watch the slaughter(and new insurgents created) or engage Turkish troops(a NATO ally) which occupies a strategic military position key to any US miliary plans in the region.

WHat is not being talked about is that there are rumors of 'an alliance' between Turkey, Iran and Syria versus the Iraqi Kurds. All three have Kurdish populations within their own borders, are fearful of the Iraqi Kurds trying to set up a Kurdistan homeland, and are not about to allow the Kurds to take control of some of the richest oil wells on the planet(Kirkuk), which equal money and power.

Turkey has long been hailed as a strategic partner to the US 'war on terror' while its own populace disapproves of the US foreign policy 91% v. 9%. Turkey plays a critical role in any scenario involving an attack on Iran, both in terms of moving supplies and troops in and out.

So has Turkey been playing both sides with the US? The Sibel Edmonds case may feed directly into this discussion, but we know little about the information she has because of the US invoking States Secrets to silence her.

So who believes that Russia and China are sitting quietly on the sidelines just watching the parade go by in Iraq? Not a chance. They are likely providing Turkey, Iran and Syria with strategic information and intelligence. Why? Because the longer the US is bogged down in Iraq bleeding troops and treasure, the US military becomes degraded and the US economy is being destroyed. Being tied down in Iraq means the US cannot respond to other significant events in the world and Russia and CHina are stepping into the vacuum building alliances and exploiting economic opportunities. Both Russia and CHina are members of the UN Security Council, and are not about to let the UN move in and help the US extricate itself from the mess it created.

This is a situation with which Russia has experience -- the Russian/Afghanistan War was instructive for them, and obviously we learned nothing from their very bloody and costly experience. You will recall the US provided strategic information and intel to the Afghistan tribal groups we called "freedom fighters". You can bet the Russians are returing the favor in Iraq and the region.

So why has the MSM not reported on this? and the likelihood that events may be driving us into a Regional war that will 'trap' US troops on the ground in Iraq given the vulnerability of the US supply lines from the south which the British have left unguarded as they pull out.

It is almost too horrible to contemplate, but this could happen ..... US troops with their supply lines interrupted from the south, facing Turkish troops and support from Iran and Syria from the north, might resort to the use of 'massively powerful weapons' to defend themselves, which would immediately ratchet up the level of conflict across the region.

I just hope the first reports of the emerging situation are not reports of massive loss of life, and confirmation that the Regional War has begun.

2. Yep, the Russians are not standing pat while the US is tied down in Iraq...
On top of the hundreds of billions of $ we are bleeding in Iraq, we have foregone at least that amount in potential economic gains we could have taken advantage of if we had not alienated the rest of the world, and could have invested that amount of money where it would have returned a profit.
