GORE's STATEMENT ON WINNING NOBEL PEACE PRIZE
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 07:45 AM by kpete
Al Gore has dedicated much of his life to informing the world that the planet faced a serious threat from global warming and urging the world’s leaders to begin taking immediate steps to reverse the trends. Update:

Gore released the following statement:

I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. This award is even more meaningful because I have the honor of sharing it with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change–the world’s pre-eminent scientific body devoted to improving our understanding of the climate crisis–a group whose members have worked tirelessly and selflessly for many years. We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level.

My wife, Tipper, and I will donate 100 percent of the proceeds of the award to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan non-profit organization that is devoted to changing public opinion in the U.S. and around the world about the urgency of solving the climate crisis.

8. He's splitting the award with the UN, so 100% of his 50% is 100%. :)

7. The guy's got class, doesn't he?
Notice how he talks more about his co-winner than he does himself? That's class, baby.

Please, Gore, please run.

11. What a great day for an even greater man.
Congratulations Mr. Vice President. You've earned this with all your endless hard work. You've done so much to advance this cause, we all owe you a great debt which we'll never be able to repay.

I think I've grown too used to bracing myself for disappointments. Much as I wanted Gore to win, and much as I knew he deserved it, I still had prepared myself for the possibility of it not happening.

12. A true winner - Al Gore!!
The humbleness of his acceptance statement shows this.
The WORLD knows what a GREAT man Al Gore is - - - a shame
the whole US does not realize the treasure we have in
Al Gore.

19. My gawd, I just love his way with words!
All those idiots who call Gore wooden and boring don't take the damn time to actually LISTEN to what he is saying.

They are so used to the "sound bite" & the bullshit that is spewed all day from the politico bastards in DC, that hearing someone who is actually trying to get a REAL & MEANINGFUL message across is too much bother for them!

:loveya: Gore!
